Every bit helps. Signature links might be devalued but they still count. So use them,.

One thing that helps to keep everything in perspective regarding seo and values of things in regards to rankings.... is to remember nobody has any definite knowledge.

What works and gets sites to the front page is solving the entire puzzle.

In bound links have some value...some more than others.

But they are just one part of a 100+ part algo.

    Hope this helps

Yes I am sure you get some minor taffic from forum links however the post was on the value of such within the search engines scoring.

I get traffic to two of the sites in my links from here at DP as those are related to the business interest most here have.

The skateboard link and ipod link do not drive traffic from DP as they are not relevant to the business mind set here.

I doubt you would be willing to try to survive off of just the DP sig links ;)

    What do you consider good traffic? 30, 50, 100, 1000, 10000 uniques?

I don't think that sig links can give a large amount of traffic but they can help.

Forum Signatures can also be counted as a backlink so keep on posting

Forum signatures do help in getting some amount of traffic to a site but they aren't to be completely relied on for site's traffic. it's better to have some traffic through forum signatures than nothing at all.

How many times do you think the search engine will count the link from any one site??

If they had any signifigent value then I undoubtedly would be on the front page of Google for 'ipod nano'

Since I am not to be found on Googles front page for this keyword term it then stands to reason that the value of the link from DP is 1 and nothing more.

    EukHost

Not for nothing but leaving live email links on forum boards is an open invitation for worldwide spamming.

try writing it out so robots dont pick it up

The backlinks give some value and drive some traffic to your site.

The real question should not be focused on "why to use signatures" but why not use them when you can?

The more exposure the better and if you can create quality posts you'll increase your reputation among forum readers thus channeling potential users to your site or inbound links from users' blogs or web pages.

Yea, but very minimal as a backlink. Post 500 messages and you'll get only 10 backlinks shown in google if you query using link:

SEO wise, sig links seem to have some noticeable benefit for Yahoo and MSN. Any benefit for Google is very very minimal, if any at all.

almost all of DP members have links in signatures. if you check link sales forum you will see a lot of people buying signature links, probably those people know what they are doing.
