So you would have happily done business with that scammer, got ripped off and be left out of pocket for relying on numbers that were easy to manipulate. Good luck to you in life, you're going to need a lot of it.

    Lemme quote myself again:

Thanks for the 'good luck'. By the way, I never got ripped off :).

i understand it may seem like the new DP penalises members, especially older members who have got positive feedback but no likes, but DP wants to improve the quality of posts and threads started, not just the trustworthiness of its users. If you keep contributing useful content you are bound to get some likes for your efforts

I think what annoys me most is that, as a member who doesn't 'contribute' anything to the community beyond spending a lot of money here, it's now basically impossible for me to do half the things I want (e.g. [WTB] threads in certain forums. So, you're effectively removing the vast majority of buyers who actually have large amounts of money to spend, because those are also the people who, on the whole, don't have time to spend time contributing heavily to a community.

I was going to push the like button, but I'm sure I was going to get a infraction point just because I have to like what forum leaders like (it sounds dumb and communist, I know.)
You were right. v7n is growing. I guess is time to pick up my stuff and leave.

I like the new changes and rules on DP forum. A forum this large can't just do nothing and let the low quality posters and even scammers do what they want in any section with no requirements. Geez, some people can't just adapt to change. What if you was back in highschool and one day the rules changed in class and you don't like any of them? Will you not follow them and take the punishment or will you follow them as you slowly begin to understand why the changes was made?

It's like a few people are acting like 13 year old girl's....

So the rules keep people with the maturity of someone like you here and penalise business owners who want to use DigitalPoint as a portal to hire people. Awkward. Grow up!

No, they penalize morons with nothing useful to add to the forum, this forum doesn't exist to keep "business owners" in free work if they haven't got the brains and mentallity to add anything to the community, most of us are sick and tired of all the pointless moaning of all the ones that no-one likes.
Its not my fault if people like my posts, i don't ask anyone to..i speak my mind and if you don't like it you know what you can do.

That awkward moment when the example chosen and the pretending age match.
Since when a forum can be compared with highschool?

That's fine, I was just pointing out that often the people who actually spend the most through this forum, behind the scenes, are those who don't necessarily 'contribute' to the forum through their posting - however, they do ensure that thousands of dollars are paid to members here, keeping the quality members coming back for more work.

It helps to remember that a forum is a public domain - so acting in a professional and adult manner is advisable if you do want to help DigitalPoint continue as a well respected webmaster community.

Just wanted to add my angle from a group who is less likely to post in the 'Feedback' section and more likely to just take their business elsewhere.

So you think this forum is just a free ride for the likes of you and the others who have absolutely nothing to contribute to the community...WRONG

Don't think the powers that be would care if you took your "business" elsewhere, bet you can't find another forum that gives you the exposure DP does for free

So your first post in this thread was just you having a cry baby tantrum was it??
changed your mind now you somehow managed to get the those massive 3 likes you needed....

It depends if you want to market the site as a community or a marketplace - it's hard to have both worlds. Things are being heavily pushed towards 'community', which is fine, I was simply expressing my view that this does have its downsides. If you think about it, anyone who isn't contributing money to this site with a 'Premium Membership' is having a 'free ride' - so that includes yourself if I am not mistaken.

I'm sure they wouldn't care but I think you are somewhat missing the thrust of my argument. I am saying that the changes that have been made are going to alienate a group of people that are likely to generate large amounts of business on the site - they aren't the people that bid on cheap services or hire $1 an hour workers but are the businesses who actively invest into freelancers and companies who use DigitalPoint as a portal to sell their products and services. (and before you say 'why don't you browse through every sales thread on the site to get what you need', that's simply not doable for some people)

I think you'll find this is a webmaster community first and foremost, shawn has already stated in the past that he would happily do away with the bst section altogether.
And what makes you think i am having a "free ride" i don't come here to do business anymore, i just like to be part of the community, i don't make money from this site..i don't need to, so yes sadly you are mistaken.

That's fair enough. As I said, I just wanted to put my opinions across - I've worked with a couple of large forums myself and understand how hard it is to get that balance between community and marketplace!

The issue with leaning too heavily towards community is that you need something that is central to the community and with webmaster forums, that is nearly always the BST (or similar) section. That's because that's often what sets certain forums apart from others as many have knowledgeable and interesting posters, but lack a well oiled BST section and so people end up at forums such as DigitalPoint instead.

My point is still this; alienating the biggest spending 1% of members isn't always the best move. I understand the argument would be 'buy premium membership' but my counter point would be that the majority of that top 1% just went to come on to the site, post up their [WTB] thread and hire someone from this site. If I wanted to pay to do that, I would go through Freelancer.com or one of the many other portals available. I don't want to because I've used DigitalPoint for almost 7 years and I like the forum - but for people like myself, the changes are pushing us away.

I wish people would search more in the forum before posting. I can not even find a good thread to start posting in everything is What do you think threads.
