Is the $300 fee really worth it? If DMOZ doesn't show in search results i don't see the point.

I think that you have confused DMOZ with Yahoo.....There is no fee for submitting a site to DMOZ.

It's free mate. No charge at all. But you can't directly accepted by Dmoz.

Don't be silly, yes DMOZ is free and all you have to do is read the guidelines http://www.dmoz.org/docs/en/add.html, then find the most suitable category and suggest the site, don't forget once only, also read the guidelines about titles and descriptions.
PS it can take from a few days to a few years for a review.

Yes, if you submit the site as per the guidelines. Your chances of listing is very high and quick.

    High, yes - eventually.
Quick, very unlikely because time scales are uncontrolled. Sometimes it's a few days and sometimes it's a few years.
Extract from Submission Guidelines (which all submitters agree they've read):-

DMOZ does not charge you any thing for submitting the website. However Yahoo charges you but only for e-commerce websites. If your website is of good quality it will be listed in 10 days in DMOZ. All search engines give preference to DMOZ listed websits may it be Google, Yahoo, Bing and other.

It is pretty unlikely that DMOZ will list a site in 10 days, but not impossible, but it is far from a certainty. Did you read the post above yours from a very senior DMOZ editor which printed out the DMOZ guidelines? That says from DMOZ pages, reiterated many times in this section, that it can take from a few days to a few years and the speed of listing has nothing to do with how good one might think it is. All sites which comply with guidelines, ie mostly unique content get equal treatment, that means it has to wait until an editor volunteers to edit that section, has to choose to use submissions as their data source and no one can predict how long that will be.

There are many threads on here about if DMOZ has value or not and who uses it, please don't take this one off topic and turn this into another one by trying to continue that discussion on this thread.

I would so love to see your evidence for that generalisation because it's very much the exception rather than the rule.

    Hi,
What I was saying is that DMOZ is a very good directory and it list good websites. A website to be get listed in DMOZ should comply with the guidelines of DMOZ.

This is a falsehood, your chances of getting listed are slim to none - EVER.

It honestly boils down to which category your website falls into and the Editor of said category. I've been the Editor of the same category for years and have seen some Editors not check their queue for many months, while (most) Editors keep up with them much better. Personally, I've fallen way behind schedule at times due to family situations and work. It's really not fair to those who have put in lots of time and effort into their submission, following guidelines, etc. but unfortunately, there is no way to speed the process up, since it's a volunteer effort. It really depends on the Editor.

a lot of dmoz admin inactive, it caused the submission takes a long time to be approved. I know because I'm there  . Google currently does not see dmoz as a web reference, so there's no effect for seo.

I have also heard the many editors are not very active, so listing are taking time.

Not sure what you mean by inactive, would you care to define that.

DMOZ asks that editors do a minimum of one edit every four months. Remember one edit every four months is better than none and it is our hobby and we do work in our spare time to build a directory, not list sites to the benefit of site owners or ever promise to review sites in a time frame that site owners like.

The editors are trying to charge you an over price. You can buy a DMOZ listing from DMOZ editors at freelance sites for between $20-$100 all the long. ;)
In reality even $20 is way too much.

2nd time you have posted a similar post I think you must be self advertising and you are running the scam which says listing guaranteed and then offers sites in the usual way, a few get listed..keep money, return any money when someone complains no listing. Bingo make a quick bucks doing something that any site owner can do for free.

If you do not run the scam, shame on you for advertising it and helping the scammers.

You are not very smart. People who advertise on freelance sites, guarantee listing between 7-10 days. How can they do that if they submit listings the "usual" way? ;)
People who sell these listings, don´t get a penny before the site is LISTED in DMOZ.
