    Hello,

Because of soem serious performance problems, i am planning to move my site to a new CMS (content management system). Alhtough i wil try to move the site %100 compatible with previous one, i guess there will be some errors (like some of the old urls will be mapped to new ones or template of the site may change a little bit).

Do you think this can be a problem for me?

If you manage to map all your URLs correctly and permanently, there should not be much affect.

You may gain or lose SEO value depending on how your new CMS creates dynamic URLs however

You will definitely experience some changes on your SERPs. As when you change somethings on the page it is that page will not be the one that is already indexed and you have to wait for a only a few days until it'll be index again and for your rankings go back as before depending on how you change your page. :)

In fact i am having problems with Joomla + OpenSEF. Opensef seems to query mysql too much for too long..(seems like using sorting queries) So the urls are already mapped to url-friendly versions and unfortunately old urls (not-url-friendly ones) are listed as supplemantary results..

As an example, if i miss supplemantary urls, will i get penalty?

What do you suggest if you were in such a situation? So far upgrading Opensef (url-rewrite loops occured and could not get any respone from web server) returned worse results..

I think you are talking about this one: http://www.artio.cz/en/joomla-extensions/artio-joomsef

Why do you think JoomSEF is better? Do you think can i convert my OpenSEf extension to JoomSEF with little harm?

Did you have or see the same problems? Can you show me some pointers to solve the problem? (forum thread/ your experience...)

Perhaps right before switching the site over, it would be good to upload the new sitemaps to Yahoo and Google?

One thing that google likes, is a website that changes frequently.

If you change your CMS, then possibly short term you will suffer, but long term? The search engines will see this as an overhaul and apportion your site with according kudos for it.

Believe it or not, it pays dividends to change your site like this from time to time - so long as you do it right.

Yes, you can map the URLS to be the same. Not to mention OpenSEF makes your database HUGE and doesn't actually rewrite a URL until someone visits that exact page.

Can you clarify more about this? You are right: my database of friendly urls getting bigger and bigger but if i uninstall opensef and install how can i make sure that JoomSEF will map to the same friendly urls?

And did you solve your performance problems with this method? Please give detailed info since this Opensef started to give me lots of headache nowadays..
