Why do you resubmit your site when the submission guidelines that you agreed to, clearly tell you to submit ONCE and only ONCE to the most correct category?

You have suggested the site and you can do nothing else other than hurt your chances of being listed. The site will be reviewed at some stage, it may be a day, it may be years, so move on and promote your site by other methods. Take my advice and DO NOT submit the site again because that may be viewed as spamming and we all know where spam is sent ........

Sorry it can take from a few days to a few YEARS for a review. The site is not lost, don't suggest it again that can often delay a review. When it is reviewed by one of the volunteer editors working in their spare time, if it is guideline compliant, it will be listed, but none can say when that will be I am afraid.

When submitting, make sure you hide adsense ads so that your site doesn't look to them as just an ad site. I heard there is a plugin for that. Any such info guys?

We don't mind adsense, provided that the site isn't an MFA.

We're not that enamoured of deliberate deception though which does little for a website's integrity. You might find that the ODP editors and systems are smarter than you thought.

Sites can take a really long time to be approved and it is true that sites will be delayed if you submit more than once.

Don't worry too much about DMOZ if they accept you they will. I'd try it once a year.

I'd recommend sticking with the submission guidelines that you agree and only suggest your website once.

Guess I was wrong. I haven't tried adding any sites to DMOZ in a while..I thought it stated weeks to months not "weeks to years".

    Thanks for the clarification.

I submitted one of our sites about 10 years back, and another about to to 6 years back. We are a serious, legit business, and never tried to submit the 2 sites again, by following their guidelines. But so far dmoz has not approved either of the sites. At least it would be nice if there was a way to know what's going on. But I guess they are short of editors, who I believe, volunteer their time, so I guess we just have to be patient, and respect them for the amount of time they put in - that most of us are un-willing to do.

So per Jim Nobel you have followed all the rules, it just seems your "Eventually" will be over a decade.

All I can say is be patient......:)

You are welcome, sadly you can't recognize sarcasm when you see it. and sadly you see someone who submitted his entry 10 years ago and you have no apology for him and you think "Its been 10 years be patient" is helpful advice. Maybe you could look up his submission and do something about it?
    No, that would be wrong!

Maybe it has been rejected and as per our guidelines, you wont be sent an email to advise this has happened. Funny enough, he agreed to this when he suggested his site.

I submitted mine 2-3 years ago. I haven't heard anything either.

DMOZ should change their slogan to "Submit it and Forget it". :)

Just keep link building and if DMOZ finally accepts you it just cherry on a great big link building pie. Wait on DMOZ to accept you and count on that link, might as well shut your site off. Just being honest. Please dont yell at me any DMOZ guys.:)

No need for a change; it's already built into our Submission Guidelines which everybody suggesting a website agrees to.
No need for yelling either. Thanks for helping to reinforce the word :).

But please do not forget that the object for DMOZ is not giving any value to any link it lists, the only concern is meeting guidelines and providing categorised and collated data for end users. Any value for site owners is an unexpected consequence, as far as DMOZ is concerned, of being listed.
