Yeah this whole industry is one big competition, that's what makes it so fun! It's true that Adsense is the strongest self serve solution out there, and to be honest seems like they will be the #1 for quite some time, they're Google after all. But Adbrite had a good concept, it just seems that something went wrong along the way. there is a whole niche of publishers out there that cant necessarily join Google, or got Google slapped, or are not supported in that specific country, etc. This is what players like Adbrite, Smowtion and others such as ourselves came to do, to offer a solution to those long tail pubs that either don't make the payout cut or don't have enough content for Google, or simply can't stand by all the rules, or simply to have another player to compare with. So I don't think it's the reason that adbrite failed but defintiely Google will be the ruler of the internet for some time to come!
Wow, just read this thread and didn't believe it. Then I tried to go to the site and it was gone. The big chat site Stickam just shut down to, wonder if the same group ran that as well.
The thing is, I think their adcode is still streaming ads? So where is the money now going being made from these impressions?
The big belongs bigger and the smaller companies are either being acquired or go out of business. Tough to compete against Google on any arena especially their main dominant playing field, certainly not a leveled one.
I'm waiting for Gorilla Nation to change my back fill code from Adbrite. I dont believe they've done this and I can still see what I believe are typical Adbrite adverts popping up. So IMHO adverts are still being streamed from Adbrite...
Yes, so all fund held by Adbrite will basically be taken now... ie: The money I've built up for about ten months will end up in someone elses pocket... Companies that pay monthly are looking mighty attractive now!
