Hey guys, I need a bit of help here on finding a plugin that will help me do what I needed to do . I have a blog, And there are some bad download links that I will need users to report . So what Im looking for is a plugin that will let users report bad download link . A link checker will not work, So I need a plugin that will let users click on it to report a bad link or issue on the post . Thanks and hope I was able to explain good what I needed .
Well, if the links are pointing to external pages (file hosting websites) and a user clicks on it, he will no longer remain on your website whether the link is working or not. One solution can be creating a report broken links page with a form where use can submit broken link report manually and give that page's reference every time you post a link. On the other hand if the download links are internal, it will be easier to track broken links automatically as they will show 404 error and all you need to do is to install a plugin which logs all 404 errors.
Thanks for the fast reply, Much appreciated , Yes they do point to a external link, But do no produce no 404 error codes, Just a blank page , I have used this plugin Wordpress Report Page/Post Error in the past , But instead of users clicking on in and typing the information, Is there a plugin similar to that , But the users click on a button or link that will report the post . for example, I click on a Link that say Report Post , When I click it, It tells me that the Administrator has been notified about this Post etc . that's it, I don't have to enter no information what so ever as a users, Just click on a link to report post . I can not understand why you want users to report links! I mean if the link is working fine, the download page should open not the report link page. So how will you display report this link page only on broken links? I mean if there is a way to distinguish broken links from working links, there is no need to report them at all, you can log them. Are you talking about iframe? Yes, with iframes you can open the link in a frame and at the top or bottom of the page a question may be asked to the user that is this link in this frame working fine? if not please report it by clicking here. But i found no plugins to do that. you can read some web design tutorials to do it manually or ask a wordpress developer.
I will like to see this plugin in action. Any website already using it? Can you post your website link after you installed this plugin ( or PM me if you are worried about infractions)
