What makes it so easy for some?

    and so hard for others?

It seems that most of the people on digital point are making either less than $1 a day, or hundreds a day. I am not interested in hearing all of the ways to make XXX per day(enless you are willing to share ;)), I am just curious if at some point everything will click for those who make <$1 a day(like myself) and we will finally start to make a respectable amount off of adsense or atleast break the barrier of pennies a day. I have been fooling around with adsense for a little while and have yet to see the light. One thing I am also curious about is the rate at which most of your sites begin to make more and more money and if you could share how heavily advertised these sites are that would be good help.

    Thanks

I think those that are making a lot have put in the work, found a nice niche and browse DP a lot.

As much as everyone wants to put in a quarter and pull out a ton of cash, it doesnt work that way. Granted there are a few people who get lucky and make some good money fairly easily. But that is the case in all business.

Find a project you want to do, start on it. Set a goal and DONT quit until you reach that goal. For all we know those people could have been working years to reach $100's stuff isnt going to happen over night.

Learn the info that will help you get there but dont forget to put it into action.

it took me 2 years before i made more than > $1.00 per day, granted, those 2 years i just expected people to click because they were there, and put very little thought into placement.

now im not making much better this year ( avg $3.50 ) per day, but its slowly increasing along side the effort i put in.

    just ask yourself these questions:
    1. how much you would like to make a day ($1, $5, $10/day)
    2. work out an action plan
    3. stay focus and implement the plan
    4. Evaluate your results in 3/6/9/12mths. Make adjustments to your plan accordingly.

That's easy if you focus on your content and traffic, others are all bullshit.

I also think there is a bit of a divide between under a $, and a reasonable amount. I am currently in the first group (about $15 p/m) but once you work out a good plan for you, you then jump to the good earnings.
I think if anyone is new to this, and wants to make money fast, you need to spread your time equally between building good, quality content sites for adsense residual earnings, and let them grow, and doing other activities for the faster money, like building and selling sites, doing design work for others, coding etc.
This is what I am doing anyway.

    Sites are hit and miss.

I have 40+ most make under 1 or 2 bucks a day. However, 3 or 4 make betweemn 10 and 20 or more a day.

I think too many people keep working on a crappy site thinking with time it will get big. I make sites, then forget them, move on to something else. Over time, some will go better than others. Spend your time on those.

I have never paid for traffic. I rarely buy links. I am too lazy to sumbit to directories. And I have a 'real' full time jobs.

What do I do, I either make a site myself over a weekend, or pay someone less than $150 per site to build for me. Some of those are making just a buck as day. I started a borat quotes site 2 weeks ago, and it has already had days around $10. Other sites I have for 8 months make .03 per day.

MY ADVICE, do not invest all your time and efforts into a single site. Spread it around. I think with 10 sites you have much better chance than putting all your time and energy into a single site.

By the way, all of my big earning sites require no updates. They are built once and I rarely touch them again other than to add links.

    Hope that helps.

I started seriously using Adsense about 18 months ago. Like many people here (if not all) I started at less than $1 a day and was excited to see the odd click. I've always integrated my ads with the site but I do not try to trick visitors into clicking them, I'd rather visitors enjoyed my sites and become regular visitors rather than make a few quick bucks by losing them straight away.

Like others have said the most important factor is traffic, it does not matter what your CPC or CTR is, if you have enough traffic you can make any amount (CPC and CTR have a maximum, traffic doesn't). By working on traffic and making my sites useful and (hopefully) interesting to visitors I've had my best month in November (~7K) and highest day so far ($340), work on the quality of your site and traffic, then income will follow.

I totally agree that traffic=more money with adsense. Work on increasing your site's traffic and the clicks will follow.

you have to consider your audience as well. I get 500+ unique visitors/day to my blog, but virtually no $$$

The audience is tech related, most are blocking ads anyways!

All those making $xxx started out making $.xx a day. It comes down to 1. how much traffic you have, 2. is your content truly interesting, and 3. are you really working towards your goal hard.

You have to spend $ to make $. I suspect that many of those who make over $100 a day on Adsense also spend a lot on advertising.
