    TechString.com

    TechString is a small peice of software that I developed over the span of about a month and a half. The software comes loaded with about four or five different tools including a proxy scraper/tester, a multi-pinger, network scanner, website monitor and more. I released the software as freeware which means that it's completely free for anyone out there to download. The new owner will get the domain, website and complete source code..It can be up to the new owner if they want to continue giving it out for free or charge for it. I'm selling this off because I've finished some other applications recently and have no intentions updating this one again. Everything on it is in perfect working order and it's been tested extensively for bugs.

    The Software
    The software was coded in Visual Basic Express 2010..Visual Basic Express is completely free to download from Microsoft. You will need to have the latest version of .NET framework installed on your computer to run the software. Each time the software is launched it goes out to the website and checks for updates automatically. This means if anyone makes changes/adjustments to the code and then puts a new copy on the server all those who currently have it downloaded will be prompted to upgrade when they open the software again.

    Traffic
    TechString was launched on January so there hasn't been a whole lot of traffic into it yet. Currently most of the traffic is coming in from software directories that TechString has been submitted into (I personally submitted the software into about 50 software directories)..It could use some more work on the SEO side of things but directories alone have been bringing in downloads.     Revenue
    The only advertising I have with this application is one adsense banner on the website. If the new owner wants to try and monetize more they can..You could always stick a banner or two into the application, charge a few bucks for the application, or just add more banners to the website.. I've decided against doing all of that and just put one banner on the website.

    Is there an online / remotely hosted version of the software?

    The software is remotely hosted in that all the files are on the site and the program is downloaded from the website. Everytime the software is launched it checks a file on the website to see if there are any new updates released. If so, then it prompts them to update the software automatically. If you view the Downloads screenshot you will notice one count is for the Setup.exe..These are people who have downloaded the software - then you will also see a count for TechString_Application..This is the file that is hit to check for updates everytime someone out there opens the software.

    Why are you selling this?

    The software on the site that the downloaded application uses, is it PHP or ASP based or other? Is this part also part of the wordpress installation?

    I'm selling the site/software because I have other projects going now and have no intentions on doing anything else with this one. The software itself is Windows based, but the website is all PHP (Wordpress)..The website and software are not directly related. You could build the website out of whatever you want..As long as you're linking to the Setup.exe file then people can download and install the software. I hope this answers your questions.

    UPDATE: The BIN has been lowered to just $400
