I've been hired by a mobile game company to write creative content promoting their game in social media (facebook+twitter).

Should I charge them per article / per word / or agree with them on a fixed monthly payment?
    Is there a standard?

I hope this is the right place to post such questions.

    Thanks, Sary

Thank you. Is this a standard or near standard price? I think it's a bit low.

$1 is the standard price on this website but then again, a lot of people on here are unable to successfully string a coherent sentence together.

I'd charge closer to $10/100 words. Maybe more.

You can check the marketplace here and compare the price for such services, also the more original content you write the more charges you can ask.

What is your time worth? How long will it take you to complete the task you have been hired to do? What are the requirements of the project?

Charge the client what you are worth. What is your time, knowledge, and skill worth?

It seems like you're doing two jobs here - 1. writing the content and 2. creating posts for social media sites to promote/link to said content. If that's the case, you should be charging for two different jobs and you definitely want to get paid for this up front. They always have the option of not paying at the end of the month. You never have the option of undoing work that's been done. Never agree to a fixed monthly anything because, more often than not, people will change their minds (adding more work) more than they will their budget (increasing your pay for the increased work).

You should have a flat rate or per word rate for article writing in mind already, if you're in the business of doing this for a living. Multiply that total by how many pieces they're asking for. If it's a lot, determine whether you're going to knock a few dollars off for being a 'bulk task'.

Price your social media postings separately, either at a flat rate per or on a per word basis. Tweets are 140 characters - Facebook posts can be quite long. You determine how much you're willing to do here and for what price.

Break down what you'll be doing for them and present them with that breakdown along with both totals. That way, they know up front you're charging for every thing you do, leaving them no room to add XYZ as an afterthought. If they do, bill those afterthoughts according to the scale you set in the beginning.
