hey my main computer broke, if you can help me fix it i'll pay you depending on how hard it is. google is hard to use for general problems. basically my computer starts but the monitor doesn't seem to connect. the monitor is green when it's not plugged into the computer, but turns orange when it is. i thought that was a gfx card problem but also when i start up the computer the keyboard and mouse don't have lights (they usually do when the monitor is not plugged in). well if anybody can help me i can pay you thru paypal or e-gold... thanks
well well if power's not goin in to you mobo then there are chances that the SMPS ( the power supply thing) is having some problem .... if you are getting beeps there could be some hardware failure like ( memory , mobo, processor) .
hey thanks for your reply! i replaced the power supply a few months ago so the current one shold be good .when i plug the power cord from the wall to the computer, a light lights up on the motherboard, and the mouse/keyboard flicker when i turn on the computer but don't come back on, which they usually do. also the fans/lights work. there are no beeps, it just starts like normal except the monitor doesn't work .
Possible solutions: 1)Resit your grahics card. 2)If you have a spare PC, connect that monitor to your PC. If you experience the same problem, it is the monitor that is the culprit. 3)Alternatively if you have a spare monitor, connect that to the "problematic" PC. If the same problem persists, the problem is with that PC. 4)But before doing the above, kindly check if you are connected to the right outlet.
the monitor cable could be having some problem ( the one tht connects to graphic card, also try resetting your bios ( by removing the battery from mobo ) .

hello the computer works now, every 10 or so minutes it may turn off the monitor sometimes so i will try to replace with a new battery. asterix if you want to be paid u can give me your e-mail. thanks
wow thanks a lot. yah i went and got a new battery now it works good. you are the coolest! thanks man
I have the exact same problem. Every once in a while on boot, or even while i'm online, I'll hear a 'click' from my gfx card. The monitor goes black but the PC is still humming away (ATI Radeon 9500 btw) This is MY remedy, I hope it works for you. As webspider mentioned, I have to resit my Vcard. I do this by powering down AND unplugging of course then i grab the Vcard and wiggle it around. It only works when it's not flush with the AGP slot, weird I know but that's how I solve it good luck " wow thanks a lot. yah i went and got a new battery now it works good. you are the coolest! thanks man " Oh OK Never mind
lol it was the batery on the mobo...easy to fix... I have seen this problem before on my sisters pc...
