On second thought, the publishers or larger retailers may provide data in a form that's easy to import into a database. Check with Amazon, Capitol Records, Sony, etc.

 

If you don't know what database he needs. how do you know that you can help him? You have every database there is?

 

maybe he has a webbot to scrap the internet for any content and then he add the collected data to a database

 

Oh, I was just looking for a list of books and novels database, but it's not that important.
