Dreamviewer is best and user friendly and most of the people using it, rest is depends on you, check some software suggested by different people and use what you feel comfortable.

Being able to code well is the most important thing. Dreamweaver is a great tool if used properly, but no substitute for having knowledge of HTML/PHP/ASP...etc. in the first place.

Using Dreamweaver properly consists of uninstalling it. Running it is using it improperly.

Well, It depends on requirement. I prefer to use SubLime Text 2 as my Professional editor. If you are looking for some tight requirements, then go for Dreamweaver. Else, I think using addons for SubLime or Notepad++ works perfect and also comes in handy package.

It definitely is Dreamweaver. It's quite user friendly and I'd highly recommend getting CS6 because it's big improvement from CS5. I've used DW for a very long time.

Don't you think it's expensive for people in developing or undeveloped country like India. I mean, It costs around whole year of salary for Indian people.

However, No doubt, It saves a lot time in development for new comers.

Sublime Text 2 is a pretty good text editor if you like the dark theme compared to Notepad++. The license cost is $59 for continued use after evaluating it.

I believe you can do a subscription instead of a one time payment. You can make monthly payments of like $20.

Is the economy in India really that bad?

I used to use dreamweaver for a long time, however, when I started editing huge files, dw started freezing up a lot. So recently I switched to Sublime Text 2, and that has worked like a dream ;)

the best software is the one you are used to but I think it's definetly not dreamweaver especially if you are just starting with web development.

Still prefer tools like phase5, notepad or Coda and Smultron for Mac

I highly dislike DreamWeaver. When you get into programming like PHP and the DreamWeaver is trying to make and close all your tags and you're chasing it around but they keep popping up. Notepad is the best as nothing pops up that you didn't put there. If something goes wrong you can figure it out because you can backtrack everything you coded and find any error if there's one. Otherwise you're looking through a programs crapology and trying to determine where it may have put a tag in your nested PHP scripts therefore throwing it all out of whack.

I agree that the default settings on DreamWeaver can be annoying for more experienced designers/developers but most of these behaviours can be disabled or reconfigured and once you get it working the way you want it to it's a very user friendly and powerful tool, in my opinion.

It's not a bad economy, it's a very low cost of living. Where you can support a family for $10/week, no one is going to pay $100/hour.

Notepad++ is the option if you know all the codes yourself and dont need any other help ,
Go for Dreamweaver if you are going to edit too much WYSIWYG .

i personally use dreamweaver but i dont use its WYSIWYG editor. if you want to connect any sites go for dreamweaver.
