4,237 have been to the site in the last 90 days.

    +----------+
    | COUNT(*) |
    +----------+

Sounds good thanks for taking time to do that.

I guess it should not be that hard for users to get them.

Not in the slightest... the ones who are angry about it really don't seem to be doing anything to (easily) rectify their situation. And of course there is the reality that some users *really* might not be ABLE to offer anything useful to anyone. And I know it sounds bad, but the reality is that those are the users we are *trying* to do away with.

The whole concept is quality over quantity. If you have nothing quality to offer, well... maybe a different site that is still focused on quantity would be better suited for them.

Also it's only going to get easier over time as more users get used to likes and how they work

    @Digitalpoint,
Forgive me for deviating somewhat from the thread topic but....someone just posted on my thread "How do you write when you're not in the mood?" in Copywriters forum. Out of the 138 replies it was the best post. Problem is the thread is almost a year old and was obviously created *before* the new changes. I do not have a *best answer* box to check off. Is there anything that can be done here?
    Thanks.

That area has never had Best Answer capability (it's set on a per section basis, since not all areas really need it). But it seems reasonable that it could be used in that area, so I enabled it now.

It's hard to receive likes from people on this forum. Those who have been serious and are quite old on the forum should be rewarded with this privilege to create a thread!

Not that "being serious" automatically makes someone a good user, but let's pretend it does.

How exactly would you suggest the system know who is serious and who is not?

You can see user history, if he did spam, whether it was active or not, and primarily his age on this forum. To say that his loyalty would be an asset.

Even with this change of rules, I still use this forum because it is very useful.
I hope not be banned, for my opinion about this...

We are more interested in quality over quantity. I'd much rather have users who have been members for 3 days that were contributing useful posts/info than someone who was around for 10 years not doing anything except "being loyal".

As far as a user becoming an established member for NOT doing something (not spamming), the only thing I can think of now is this video... lol

"I don't spam..." "You're not supposed to you dumb mother fucker!" lol

Step 1 - post something interesting or useful.

Step 2 - repeat step 1 if it wasn't interesting or useful enough.

I've received 15 likes since the transition(migration). About 11 were given for opinions on different topics, the other 4 were for humor.
So give your opinions and don't be shy about it. Perhaps your opinion could be helpful to the discussion. Also if you write something that makes members laugh it adds to the overall atmosphere. Some members have managed to get 3 likes from just one post.
Good luck to you with this.:)

Welcome! You could try helping members asking for help in areas you have some experience, or post a thread if have have useful information to share with people. Eventually people will "like" your posts, you just have to make a good effort. Good luck!

Yeah, but that newbie won't be an established member themselves so their like won't count towards your established member status.

The thrust of what you are saying is right, of course - just not that bit :)

I have posted some helpfull analytics tips (my core competence) but so far just recieved 1 like for this. But I guess I have to keep on posting tips, because I would like to make another logo contest for one of my projects :)

Mate - maybe you need to do a longer post to impress people more. Maybe 500 words or so?

"Tips" sounds like you have done quite short posts. Maybe "length" is everything after all LOL
