What do you actually need to do to get a google back link? I just ran one of my sites through a back link checker and here are the results:

    Backlinks:
    Google: 0

    MSN: 11

    Yahoo: 157

Why would there be so many yahoo backlinks and zero google?

Is the site very new? It could be because of that.

You also tend to get a lot less form Google than the others, as the bot keeps spidering they will appear!

    submit your website to directories
post on forums in your niche with your website in your signature
    submit articles to article directories
write articles (with a link back to your website) for other related websites

google shows only some of your backlinks, enough for you to make an idea how popular is your website. Be sure that google indexed all your backlinks, but it will not show all of them.

Google is notorious for only showing a sampling of the actual backlinks to a site. Google also only exports/updates backlinks at certain times, so you will have to wait for the next backlink update to see if you site has gained any backlinks in Google's opinion.

Google is always very very low with the link:www.yourdomain.com command. Try searching for ".yourdomain.com" and you'll see what else G has in their index for your site.

Google does not show all the links even if it has found and credited them, especially when talking about new websites.

Adding powerful links gradually can have a nice effect in listing them in the coming update.

Get more links, just continue your link building and wait for backlink updates. Google didnt shows all links...

I too have such problem - I both wrote articles, and made submit - result same, the quantity of links is not enough, in comparison with job on their addition.

The best way to see how many backlink you have is probably to check on Yahoo.

    Ignore Google.
Check your backlinks from Live & Yahoo! Site Search Explorer. :)
