Late last year I applied to affiliate.com to become a member. After completing an extensive form, with lot's of banking information, I submitted the form. After the promise 5 days, I received a reply my application was refused. Ok, their decision, which I accept. I then sent a large number of emails to different people within the company, requesting my application information should be deleted from their computer systems. No reply to any email. I then gave 4-5 days notice that I would report the company to Internet Crime Complaint Center and to the Better Business Bureau Nothing, so beware of companies that collect information and do not respond to emails. The BBB will not do anything and pretty powerless other than giving a bad rating, but there is a good chance they do not even store your details any more - even more so when they rejected your application. I wouldn't worry about it so much as your bank details (I am going to assume you given over your account number and sort code) as people can not go around stealing money from your account (at most they can fake something like a cheque which will bounce when cashed in). That all said and I can only assume the country you live in, but most countries have a freedom of information request act or something on those lines so try contacting the company asking to see every detail they hold of you and if it is anything like the UK Data Protection Act, they may charge you for it. Overall, I wouldn't worry so much if all you given was a account number and a sort code.
lool they got huge applications daily and most of them with non real personal info no worries if ur details with them
Good advice. With many scams going on I just wanted to be as sure as possible that the data was not sold on the companies which do spam, scam marketing. Can you believe a company that treats it's brand name in such a way? Drachsi
Well that's probably the worse that could happen. Just delete the spam messages and move on. You don't really have to worry about getting your cash stolen if all you've given was your account number.
