Hello, The rules of threads placing (links sales section) have been changed and now I have to verify ownership of the domain. Ok, but what if I don't want all dp members can see my domain in the thread for security measures, can I do something to hide it? Will this option be possible if I buy premium account? Or now domain name will be always visible in the threads? Will be thankful for any reply.
If you are selling a domain name, why would you not want members to be able to see what it is? Are you expecting members to bid on it without knowing what the domain actually is?
I'm fairly sure there's an option as a premium member to tell search engines not to index it, but members would still be able to see the post/domain.
If you want to sell a domain without telling anyone what it is, why bother even creating a thread? Maybe the same people will just magically know you want to sell it since they magically know the domain they are buying? Yep... you can hide a sale thread from search engines.
really after exploring your new site for a while all i can say it seems that you spent alot of time coding that new site alot of new options, marketplace and professional use of APIs ... all i can say i'm so happy to be a member here for about 4 years... it seems that picked the right forum from the start ... just keep it up...
Yeah right, the only thing I concern is the 50% buyer feedback rating which makes me such untrusted person.
I more than welcome changes... Most of the time... And I like the new system, if community gets used to it, it just might be one great success. However, the design hurts my eyes... Am I the only one? Its waaay to bright, delimiters between posts aren't obvious enough, somehow doesn't go well with the flow of forums. Sorry if this is just me, if its not, I think something should be done about it...
The Design is ok, and I'm sure I will get used to it. Seems like many things have improved. However, for me, I don't like the fact that I know need to get "likes" to be an established member. I mainly use the Buy, Sale, Trade forum, where I create contests for logos. I would hope I provide value to DigitalPoint by doing that. I'm afraid that the changes will make the contests(Buy, Sale Trade) forum more quiet.
There are other ways, for example you can go on their profile and pick out one or two of their contacts(followers) and ask for references. You can also look at the comments (if any)left on their comment board. Not everybody is hung up on buyer feedback scores.
This basically. I'm less worried about buyer feedback scores anyway than I would be about seller feedback. Sure, people could refuse to sell to you based on your feedback, but a quick PM explaining probably would set their mind at ease.
First off, all digitalpoint.com... oh yes, sorry, I thought that main page was still that archaic page that was online for almost a whole decade, but I can see it now redirects to this forum, good point! Now, as far as I know Digitalpoint (the forums area) never ran over a framework but using vBulletin, so I don't understand at all the quoted part because this does not seem to be a framework either but a XenForo custom setting. If this is not the case, you would save a lot of coding time simply teleporting vB DP to Xen DP.
vBulletin and XenForo are frameworks... that's what I was referring to. Had to rewrite stuff that was built using the vB framework to use the XF framework.
the new forum is great. However , as a long time member to DP forum, I feel the membership fee is high and the 'established member' requirement is not fair to all. However, even with that said I hope it cuts down on all the nonsense posts people would make in the selling sites section. I just hope/wish there's a better way to determine who is an established member of this forum. I've never made a string of crappy posts. I've always been a legitimate member of the board. Now I can't post gigs to hire people nor sell my sites. I came to find this change out when looking to hire a few people. Just food for thought. Maybe it would be a good idea to separate hire / sell forum and allow others access to the 'hire' section.
Let's be realistic here though... you think that would be a good change for the overall good of the forum? Somehow that section wouldn't become a cesspool for spammers and scammers since it has zero requirements to use it? Forget about what you want as an individual for a moment, and rather think big picture. How would that change make the site better (making something easier for you personally to access doesn't do anything to make the site better btw).
One more question - how can I find user in my inbox? Before I did seacrh with cntr+f for user name in Inbox or sent folders but now specific user name could be inside conversation that doesn't allow to find it with cntr+f
sorry but big (1.5mil lines of codes) <> better or improvement i dont see any things that are better now compared to the old version just the 20% decrease in traffic on alexa reports, thats what i see less buyers/sellers = forum dead. i hope not
I'm not the least bit surprised that there is a slight decrease, it is to be expected with such a big change. However while a few former members may temporarily leave, this new DP will attract newer members of a better quality in time. Some on here may be missing the point of this whole exercise.....it's about quality as opposed to quantity. I don't believe numbers are the only criteria here.
Click this link (or "inbox" from the navigation menu) - https://forums.digitalpoint.com/conversations/ Scroll to the bottom of the web page, and find "conversation display options". Click the link (blue arrow from screenshot) and a you will see the options. Type in the member's DP username (red arrow from screenshot). Hit the "set options" button. Good luck!
