How do I get an image across the full page width?

    Hi Guys,

    Please look at http://www.inetseo.co.uk/

    I am wanting to get an image to fit across the full width of the page (as with the blue header bar) but am really unsure how to achieve this.

    Any help would be great :)

    Thanks,

    Andy

    What "image" are you referring to? Your question is a bit... vague.

    But given that fixed widths are just as bad as fixed heights from an accessibility point of view, the question itself shows flawed design thinking; but then so does that site so...

    Kind of a laugh in a way, an "SEO Services" website with nothing resembling semantic markup, accessible design, or writing "for the user".

    Why on earth would I want semantic markup on my site? There is nothing I would gain from it, so why would I spend the time doing it? I will introduce it on a customers site (if required), but on an SEO site? Yeah...

    As hard as I try, I can't bring myself to take the SEO advice of a nobody on a forum, but thank you for your concern. It's clear you have absolutely no about what matters in SEO or what you are on about.

    However, if you come and join me in the top 3 when searching for "Specialist SEO", then we can talk...

    Peace out!

    So still... what image are you referring to? When you say "page width" do you mean to your fixed width, or the entire actual page (BODY)?

    There is no image in place there - it was a general question of how would I. I have found a site to show you as an example http://www.found.co.uk/

    What you want is a background image. You can apply it to the page or to a table cell.

    You can stretch an HR to 100%, but if you do that to a picture you distort the picture.

    Oh, and as far as why you want semantic markup on your site, it has nothing to do with SEO, and everything to do with how websites are written. If you can't write your own site correctly, why should anyone hire you to write their sites? It's like buying a car from someone who sells beautiful tires, but the engines are shot. Everything about the site should be good - both SEO and proper coding.

    Wow, you people really are a-holes. Someone asks a simple question. He is insulted, his entire livelihood is bashed, and then when he defends himself he is made out to be the bad guy?

    Thanks for letting me know early on that this isn't the place for me...

    to add a background picture you will need to add in your css file the code below:
    body {
    background: url(YourImageLinkGoesHere);
    }

    you can play with repeat x or y and even make the background fixed but it is hard to tell what you want without the picture you want.
    Anyway when you choose a picture for the background it is a whole picture will need to be big enough to fit the whole screen. The other option is to use pattern picture (A picture that will repeat itself the whole page).
    Hope that helps, good luck!
