Again, I am not sure if this is the right for forum for this request.... Can someone share or point to the really good sample web design specification or at least a template. I am a functional analyst with some development background and know that one cannot really develop things from just other's imagination and ideas and still meeting their expectations. Thanks in advance....
A website template or specification for building - 1. A website with shopping cart functionality: Ideally I expect this will include requirements for such a website and template/sample data showing navigation, page descriptions, rules, conditions, appearance description etc. 2. e-Learning website- Same as above i.e. I expect this will include requirements for such a website and template/sample data showing navigation, page descriptions, rules, conditions, appearance description etc. for e-learning website and course navigation etc. 3. e-book reading website - this should include book reading and illustrations/animation description Am I asking for too much???
Ideally you would prolly want to use a "script" like Wordpress or Drupal to accomplish those items. With that, you can use ready made themes/templates/plugins to accomplish what you need. This would get you up and running faster. Sounds like you may need some help getting started on the learning curve too?
yes this can be a detail requirement document. Module by module, page by page. Rephrasing my earlier post. I need to get some good samples- How the customer communicates to your developer in writing on his ideas, navigation required, page design required, visuals and animations needed etc.
you may look around for some premium WordPress themes to see how people do it. Hope you can figure out details by yourself!
May be you can find some inspiration here awwwards.com . There are ratings of the most important facts of the pages like design, creativity, usability and content.
In a word, poorly. The client usually has a vague idea of what he wants, and not a clue about what he needs, and it's the developer's experience that turns the vague descriptions into a spec. This part of the development process is like dental surgery - pulling teeth. Except that the teeth aren't in the mouth and don't look like teeth. If you're looking for a formula, or an example, of how to turn "I want a website that ..." into a spec for a website, there is none. You work with experienced developers, watching the process, until you learn it.
