What is "Google search engine spider"?

I am using google search engine for 3 years for finding information but I have recently seen "Google search engine spider". Can anyone tell me about Google search engine spider?

Google Search Engine Spider or Crawler or Bot is in fact the software which travels across the web pages in search for the most relevant and pertinent piece of information as an answer to the user's query. It is commonly referred to as a spider as it silently sweeps across the entire web and brings in a lot of information and data. You can think of it as the Algorithm Google is using. The search engine is the spider itself.

I've always viewed the big giant spider as the "supervisor" of all sites listed on Google which, as what most supervisors do, basically supervises the websites.

 

It's a Bot that crawl new pages or sites.

 

Google Search Engine Spider is program used by Google to fetch website's data and store in their database. After that it index that data with particular keyword and display to user. This process is call crawling and indexing and program called GoogleBot or Google Search engine spider.
