NEW search engine

Hi,

Just thought I'd pop in and update you all on the status of my search engine.

It's live, but it's in beta, so anything could happen, I will be changing the code as I go along.

Where does it get it's results from?

 

It's got it's own Index, I've been indexing websites all week.

Yes,

We currently have nearly 10k domains and over 130k indexed pages in the database, (it is small I know!) but it will come in time. I've got 15 bots working at the moment to work.

I will be creating a form too, submit your links

 

OKay, now got over 1.3million links into the DB. so growing quite fast...

To let everyone know, we've now got over 5.5 million links in DB and we're growing! with over 50k domains inserted into DB now.

I have just found something you may want to consider for your search engine...

I searched "Original Hosting" and I have got results for websites which offer illegal prescription drugs, you may want to take a look at stopping your robots from indexing this sort of stuff. I have a feature idea for you also which I don't think any other search engine currently has.

Think the problem with it is the DB is taking so long to load results which, averagely. the results are coming around 7-10seconds.. I will be improving this by Monday next week.

I'm currently setting the robots to de-index illegal drug sites... The robots have now gathered over 10 million links within the DB.. We're in progress of adding new hardware to our site.

 

Yes. I do think you will need to improve the timing of search results as I believe it will deter people to wait too long for results.
