There are a lot of ways to promote a website. One option is using social media. I would start with Twitter and Pinterest if I were working in the travel niche. It would make it easier to answer if you asked more specific questions. Do you want to rank for a specific keyword in the search engines? Do you just want more traffic to your site? What kind of products are you promoting/selling? What's the website's URL?

 

Actually I want to promote my site mainly through Search Engines (SEO) and Social Media. You can see my site in signature. I am regularly updating it with fresh contents.

When should I expect traffic from Search Engines and other sources?

What should I do to permanently keep my site in compliance with the Search Engine guidelines?

Also any other good ideas to promote it will be highly appreciated.

Ah, of course. I have to say you have a really nice website! I liked your facebook page and followed you on twitter. So, if you want traffic from social media, continue using twitter and facebook. I would focus on twitter as it's easier to get "new" traffic from twitter than facebook. Also consider pinterest. When it comes to Twitter, I'd suggest that you try out TweetAdder. Regarding SEO, there are obviously two types; onsite and offsite. I haven't checked your onsite SEO, but since you're using WordPress I would suggest that you download "WordPress SEO" by Joost de Valk, which can be found here: yoast.com/wordpress/seo/

Regarding offsite SEO, that mainly depends on backlinks. You can get backlinks from many different sources (don't put your eggs in one basket). Here are some examples:

- Go to fiverr.com and search for “link wheel”, “link pyramid”, “.edu backlinks” or “.gov backlinks”
- Use social media (you can use fiverr for that too, searching for “social bookmarking”)
- Submit articles to article directories such as ezinearticles.com
- Post comments on other people’s blogs that are related to your niche (obviously with a link to your website)
- Post comments to forums and have a link to your website in your signature
- Upload videos to YouTube with links to your website
- Add links to free directories such as activesearchresults.com

Make sure you know which keywords you want to rank for when doing SEO. You can see which keywords your site is being found at adwords.google.com. I did a little bit of research and here's some keywords I found for your site:

visit new york
last minute travel
last minute travel deals
cheap travel
travel agent
last minute deals
hotel booking online
all inclusive vacations
cheap flight tickets
travel agents

It's hard to say when you will see results. The best advice I can give you is to be persistent and keep adding quality content. I would say that keeping it in in compliance with the search engine guidelines is more or less using common sense. Natural growth. E.g. if you get 10.000 backlinks in a day, that's not natural. Also be sure to read up on changes to algorithms, especially Google.

Other ideas to promote it:

- PPC/PPV (pay per click, pay per view - Facebook, Google, Yahoo and so on)
- Banner ads

I can't come up with any other bright ideas at the moment, but I hope this helps!

 

Just one more suggestion, completely off topic: Make the links to external sites open in a new window, such as the link to your twitter profile at the top. You usually don't want to send people away from your website.

 

Promote it on various classifieds: craigslist, backpage, qwikad, olx and so on...

Travel websites are all about content that relates to experiences in a range of destinations. I'd get travellers themsleves to provide copy, photos and feedback about their real travel experiences.

 

Exactly content and range of destinations,photos is also important factor in travel site.

 

Just think about where your target market hangs out online and put your link in front of them.

 

Try and rank for very specific keywords. The buyers will be more ready to buy, and you'll only get people who are interested in your product. Good luck!

 

Everyone has already given you some great suggestions for increasing traffic. I have nothing to add there. However - where did you get the pictures you've posted? I don't see them credited to anyone so you might want to do something about that to avoid copyright issues.

Also, I skimmed over four articles and every one of them had errors. You do have a lot of written content, but when it's riddled with errors like that, it kind of makes your site look low-budget and unprofessional.

 

There are a lot of good suggestions here. The only thing I will add is that while I like SEO, I don't depend on it. I'm a fan of using e zines. I would find some travel related e zines and send a solo ad or buy a classified or banner ad. They are usually very affordable. That way you can advertise to a group of people who you know are interested in your type of service.
