Hi I have 2 sites on 2 different webmasters tools accounts. One of the sites had some issues and now needs to be reconsidered by google. I read in another forum that if 2 accounts are linked in webmaster tools google sometimes assumes that even the good site has had some black hat work done on it which could lead to a ban. In this other post they also mention even if the accounts are not linked in webmaster tools, google can even ban the good site as they can tell you are on the same ip address. Anyone know anything about this? Many Thanks
They should not ban all of your website. The algorithm is made to ban only the website that are not within the webmaster quality guidelines tools.
Why? It's pointless. Any action is taken against an individual site. To be blunt, your statement "good site has some black hat work" is stupid. If you have violated guidelines for the so-called "good site", then you are taking a risk of it being penalised or algorithmically demoted regardless of anything else (even if it's your only site and Webmaster Tools account). Tell them to take their tinfoil hat off. In some shared hosting, there will be many domains on one IP address. That doesn't mean they are all the same person's sites. Penalising all the sites would be dumb, but it's also the kind of moronic conspiracy theory crap black hats/spammers come out with.
Thanks a lot guys! New to this and still learning. Actually meant have 2 webmaster tools accounts so any login or reconsideration request would come from same ip address?
Well, as far as I know, it doesn't ban all of your websites. And the presumption of "every website attached to that account is blackhat" is wrong also.
