    Hi,

Can anyone tell me what sort of questions I need to ask a potential Magento hosting provider so I can ensure they are able to meet my Magento hosting needs?

What do I need to look out for?

    Thanks

You can check magento requirements /http://www.magentocommerce.com/system-requirements
Also choose a host that offers x days money back ... just in case you are not happy ...

Rightly suggested by pavv. You can also check if they have any specific tweaks/settings for magento installed websites.

Magento is really a resource loving script .You can choose shared hosting provider who can offer "Any time Money back guarantee" so ensure zero risk in your investment and see what results you are getting after installing magento , The thumb rule is if some one offer guaranteed refund at any time , it means they are 100% confident that their services are reliable.Check my signature to find more details.

Most of the hosting companies would suggest Magento. However, ensure that they allocate sufficient amount of memory (RAM) for Magento to function properly. Its always best to contact the host before hand to confirm if their servers would support it (to be on safer side).

Well, Share hosting will give so much trouble for Magento stores unless optimized.

Yep. Magneto needs resources. It is better to ask from your host that it is OK to host your site based magneto in their shared servers.

Magento is a very powerful ecommerce platform if you provide it with enough hardware resources. I would suggest a dedicated cloud server or a dedicated server (they are less than $100 a month).
We run our website on Magento. It worked well for us.
