The best web designing software depends on

    1. your knowledge of HTML/CSS.
    2. your organization skills.
    3. your budget.

Dreamweaver is pricey for a program that can simple be replaced with notepad. If your just starting out, i wouldn't even consider dreamweaver. Everybody thinks dreamweaver is the best when really it does the same job as any open source html writer. I like using dreamweaver for big projects, but it is to "heavy" for simply editing a few lines of code. I would start with any free version really. i hear notepad++ is good so try that.

No, notepad + would be the best choice. If you are using windows I would get Microsoft WebMatrix, its free. Seriously, if you are using Windows you NEED to try WebMatrix, it makes everything so much easier.

Yes I noticed that nobody talks about this software that much.. it is knew though. I found it to be full of useful features, while being lightweight at the same time.

The reason no one is advertising notepad++ is their advertising budget. They devote only 34% of the price of the program to advertising. Since the program is free, that doesn't leave them much advertising money.

It's "advertised" on just about every web development forum. (BTW, "design" is artwork. HTML, CSS, etc., is development. Good designers can't develop and good developers can't design.)

I if you want to drag and drop your content, easy to use, affordable price, I would suggest to use WYSIWYG Web Builder.

And non-beginners won't use it because it produces terrible, non-cross-browser-compliant code.

If you are a beginner, yes, Dreamweaver is the friendliest website design tool. But you would ditch it as your skills increased over times.

And it looks like it. Your semantics are all over the place. Don't let Deathshadow see the site, it would probably give him a fatal stroke.

I have a pretty in-depth knowledge of Dreamweaver, Notepad++, and Bluefish for linux. I personally use Bluefish on Linux, but I recommend Notepad++ if your starting out, it does a wonderful job.
