I have been visiting this site now for a couple of years at least and i am amazed at how many times the same questions are asked in fact its starting to make this forum a bit tedious and boring. Would it not be an idea to set a new forum up for new members mainly a Google forum where they can all ask the same questions over and over again as much as they like, and make it so that you must have been a member of DP main forum for at least 6 months before you can post a question once again this really applies to the Google forum. To many newbs do not bother to search the site or read other posts where nearly all their questions can be answered. just an idea i am sure that there might be a better way to do it, your thoughts on this please DP veterans.
A private area for posters with over 1000 posts perhaps... this would weed out all the first time questions.
this board is for advanced users not for newbies. not a play ground for newbies to test on, should learn elsewhere and then drop in here
PS I was joking. It's a more complicated issue than it may seem. Some questions deserve to be asked every month because the answer changes every month. Others are indeed plain annoying. Then again, judging by the title and the mouse-over pop-up snippet you should be able to sort the men from the boys when it comes to browsing new threads.
I think we should ban anyone from posting until they have made at least 10 posts. That would take care of the newbie problem!
LOL. Or make their threads show only to those in the same post count category. But that would make the OP of this thread a n00b too, and me as well on other forums where I don't have 12 thousand posts. Newbieness != postcount. So the solution is that new members need to sit an exam and until they pass the exam for that category they can't post.
Actually, you're wrong. I bet if I looked at all of your posts/threads, I'd find a bunch of repetitive, non-advanced stuff.
LOL @TOPS30...I am sure Shawn answer will be Sorry, not going to happen. Lol Shawn is managing this forums very hardly do you think he has time for some other forums? Saad
You can contact me and give me a contract for that if you want. We offer money back gurantee so you have got nothing to lose
oh yea, but at least not to like the newbies, i been more active last 2 months here, seeking to learn more from you guys , any ways ill keep this in mind to avoid repeated and similar posts .
Simple... any oldie could just say... RESEARCH and then post a new thread or question. I had tops tells me that once! and i have seen him telling a gazillion others too.. hehe But it did its work. When someone is sarcastic you do tend to be more thorough! k!ck A$$ ( Felt like $@#$@#%@# then... but lol now i know better.. since i get so annoyed seeing the same stuff )
Did I? My driving instructor taught me that. I'd be waiting at the traffic lights too far back - he'd say "that woman in the car next to us has got a funny hat hasn't she? Move forward a bit so we can see it better." Or when I should have been a gear up "Bit noisy outside isn't it?" Always cracked me up and I'd never do it again.
yeah.. it does the work! Should make it an integral part of our forum... and ask all seasoned guys to talk like that when repetitive threads are started by noobs.. not that i consider myself an oldie by any means..
i know that very well, spent a year here. i haven't particularly repeated any threads, but i give appraisals , make some site feedback's to those who seek for it if there are 0 replies i reply them , i don't see me doing anything wrong, but i don't want to continue doing any more.
Did someone mention Newbie Hunting? Well wait, that isnt a bad idea for those who reply to threads that they have no interest in, just to boost their post count. So they can run over to the b/s/t area and spam. Indeed, I have seen some repetitious questions in the google area. But I learned after a few rep slaps from others to do a search 1st, or to read through the topics there first before asking. I eventually found enough answers. And if I did not find enough info than I would make a post.
every 1 is newbee when they have started for first time. if we keep any such limit every 1 will try to increase post count to get pro membership and if all new members strat posting huge u can imagine what will happen next.
what i meant is newbies with 0 knowledge about forums, and under aged kids 13-14 yr old, once you know the rules, proper functioning and where to post you are advanced forum user , once you start giving more helpful suggestions you are super user.
