    I would place "0" outbound link on the index page.If you really want to place some outbound links,I'd recommend you place no more than 15 .

    Recommended outgoing links from a page should be between 10-15 if you want to pass-out the PR value to your advertiser.

    It depends on you, Google suggests not to put more than 100 links on a page but there are many sites that have tons of links on home page:

    Sitepoint forum -> 590 links approx. (PR 5) :eek:

    i thinks this is stable numbers.
    pr5 max 20
    pr6 max 25
    pr7 max 35

    This is my opinion.

    forum related sites have got more than 100 links usually. Because last post, category names, messages, members and other links totally more than 100+

    As everyone else mentioned recommended number is anywhere from 0-20 20 at max. Also make sure that those are not just spammy links i mean links to spammy pages or even one such outgoing will hurt much more then having 100 quality outgoings :D

    For web directory i think you should get backlinks to your main domain and give internal links to all categories and sub categories. {but should be <50 at max}

    I agree with this. If you are running a free directory then I can unstand you wanting to make a few bucks for your work. But if it is a paid directory I would not do it, keep that pr for your inner pages this way you should have even page rank through out the site.
