Top 10 100% SEO Friendly Directories.

Below is a list of what I consider to be 100% seo friendly directories. Alot of directories claim to be seo friendly just because they have direct links pointing to the sites listed in them, or because they optimized the homepage. However, imo this does not make a directory 100% seo friendly. There are other factors to consider when saying a directory is seo friendly. For example:

Are all category pages optimized for the title tag.
Are all category pages optimized for the description tag.
Are all category pages optimized for the keywords tag.

These are the 3 most important, there are other factors to consider as well, such as page names, h1 tags, alt tags etc.

The directories that have their sites set up in this fashion will provide the most benift to the sites listed in them. Sure it is nice if the pr is good on all pages, but pr does is not the main factor when it comes to serps. I believe that directories that have their pages fully optimized are alot more valuable then directories that just have a high pr. The reason I say this is because if I have a site related to say gift baskets but I am listed on a page that only says gifts, then sure my link is somewhat relevent and could provide good serps, but being listed on a page that has gift baskets in the meta title, description, keywords and h1 is going to be alot more powerful because the page that I am listed on is 100% relevant to what my site offers. Google can not over look links like this, they want links from relevant sites or pages. Remember if you want to rank on the search engines you need relevant links, and directories can provide relevant links but only if the owner takes the time to make sure that the categories are relevant to the site listed in them.

    http://www.romow.com/
    http://www.index-it.net/
    http://www.wowdirectory.com/
    http://www.abilogic.com/

I could go on forever about this but I just wanted to point out a few things that most submitters may not understand about what makes a directory seo freindly.

I would like to add to the list above, so if you have a directory that fits then post them in this thread. I will be adding a page on index-it.net in the next few hours with a list of directories that truly are 100% seo freindly. You can not pay to be listed under that category, it will be a specail category for quality seo freindly directories and all directories that fit the profile will get a free listing. And yes when I add the page it will already have a pr3 on it for those of you that care so much about pr.

May the serps be with you all.

I understand that these sites are run off of phpld. However these type of sites can still be 100% seo friendly if set up correctly. Just look at the source code in these sites and see how well they optimized their pages. A well optimized page will always do better than a site that is even 100% html, provided that they have good backlinks pointed to the pages as well.

I have upload the new page for 100% seo friendly directories. You can view them here SEO Friendly Directories. I'll be honest and say that some of the directories that I was expecting to fit the profile just did not make it, at least not yet. If your site fits the profile as I said, post it in this thread and you will get a free listing under seo friendly directories on index-it.net. I had to remove one of the listings that I had first posted because although I thought they had a description tag I was looking at the wrong tag.

Just remeber, having pr is great, having page strength is great, being seo friendly is great, but having all in one is better. So directory owners, let's make our directories a little more powerful for our submitters.

I once thought all directory owners knew SEO. But I found some didn't know much about it.

To me, if a page is not HTML, it's not really SE friendly though Google bot can crawl any page. But then if a page has PR, many would think it is SE friendly I guess.

Great thread, very helpful. I have fairly recently started my own directory (sig) and being new to seo I've been asking what makes a directory 100% seo friendly. The new updated site is going to be launched very soon which is much more seo friendly however I would like to make it 100% friendly. Do you have any suitable links etc that explain how to do this more fully? Thanks.

Most directory owners just do want to take the time that is needed in order to make their directory 100% seo freindly, I think this is bad move. I only know this stuff because my main job is doing seo for other companines. There is nothing better than having a directory that has not only good page rank but good search engine rankings as well. Like I said earlier, directories like this will provide much more value to the sites listed in them.

I would rather list my sites in a directory that will help me climb the search engines than a site that only has high page rank, because the serps bring traffic and traffic brings sales. But of course if you can find a directory that provides all of it then your site will do very well.

I would like to submit http://www.fatinfo.com for your consideration. It is very well optimized and free for submissions (no recips, no payment), deeplinks allowed in description text (if instructions are not followed, then deleted). Use view source and you will see that all category pages, including link detail pages have:

    unique title tags
    unique description tags
    unique keyword tags

In addition, the directory is indexed very well by Google. http://www.google.com/search?q=+site:www.fatinfo.com&num=100

Agreed these are important attributes. There are many many more.

I tested all these sites for w3c valadation and to my suprise only 3 passed the standards set all the rest Failed!

I have already done this on my others and

    1. www.sleekdirectory.com
    2. www.biz-king.com
    3. www.adult-url.com

All passed the w3c standards somthing that many on this list didnt do.
I will work on what your recomendations are in the next few days.

    thx

Thanks for reminding me about that. I have one error that I keep forgetting about. And although I do not think that it matters if a site validates or not I do take great pride in making sure that my pages validate.

Check out my rankings for w3c validation services #3 on google.

Yes yours failed due to 1 error some on this list were as high as 95 errors.

You are right for me its just saying i did care enough to take the few minutes to do the small task of fixing small errors.

ohhh by the way not just the front page either make sure every url passes even those that are 3 levels deep like on all minz.......

Note: I have not done the css validations yet as i was told it has no bearing on SEO but i will soon enough.
Just to say that my site passes all w3c standards

    thx

Just fixed the homepage error. I will be putting up a new design soon, once that is done all pages will pass validation.

You should join the club and become a member of w3c sites

Yes when i checked your site i figured that you had worked on this at one time as it is impossible to only have only one error. Glad your up to date now.

As for joining anything thats kinda ruff at this time as im in a mad rush to get more links as well as straighten out all my catagories like i did in sleek so that other directory owners have a front page for thier directories on hopefully soon to have pr inner pages....

    http://www.sleekdirectory.com/Internet/Web_Directories/
    http://www.biz-king.com/computer/Web_Directories/
After the next PR comes and goes then ill start doing more like becoming memebers anywere or becoming an editor for ????.... Ill never tell :D

    thx

The W3C validation is pretty much bull. Just finished everything with fixing http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.fatinfo.com front page to validate 100% (the footer link will be removed by the co-op type ad network in 24-48 hours). Now the site is 100% SEO Friendly and Passes W3C Validation with flying colors. :)
