What's your favorite 2006 movie? Why did you like it?

I didn't see many this year, but I thought The Guardian was well above average.
The special effects (dangerous weather) were really great, and the plot was good enough to stay interesting.

    What's your favorite?

Everyone’s going to hell in The Departed, and Martin Scorsese has fun killing them off along the way.

Jack & Scorsese seems to create sizzle

The Island was fantastic. No swearing (unusual these days) and heaps on intrigue and action and graphics.

So far, Deja Vu with Denzel Washington. Great story and excellent acting. Jim Cavezel was quite believable playing a "bad guy" not long after he played Jesus Christ in The Passion. Cavezel was also great in Frequency, which you should rent on DVD if you haven't seen it.

The Departed, a remake of Hong Kong's Infernal Affair. Not forgetting Jackass 2 the movie.
