when you're in Costa Rica and a traffic cop stops you, keep on speeding. They are too lazy to chase you. All they want is 40 bucks payoff.
Yeah, and they'll be wholly dependant on outside resources...nice place to visit, but I'm sure only a select few will make home there, if that's really more than just a scam.
Isn't there a way to put all ones asset in a trust to avoid taxes? I use to be interested in all this...many moons ago.
You can put a decent amount into your childs account... AppleSeeds are a great place to keep interest income safe from taxes... There are limitations though.
I had another American who is living in the Philippines give me a convincing pitch on the place the other night. I am currently negotiating with the wife regarding a visit.
You have to go to Costa Rica, Will. Trust me, you'll love it (Just cover yourself in anti-mosquito spray )
go with laguna area my friend especially in Los Banos its our home town one the cleanest and lowest crime rate town in the philippines it is near the University of the Philippines. try also Cebu because of boracay, palawan and davao.
I understand that Belize is becoming rather popular for retired Americans to reside. Also, some are going to various Caribbean Islands and settling there.
Canada! Canada is a great country to live in. Access to medical care that is free or very low cost. The weather is pretty good in British Columbia and some parts of the East. it's really warmed up in the last 20 years. Cost of living and quality of life is pretty good. The people are great. Oh! Canada!
Canada fails my criteria for so many reasons: Climate: Too cold. Government: Too large; too fascist. Income tax: Too high. Medical care: Substandard.
Argentina may be corrupt but you'd have to say that places like Australia and the U.S. are also pretty corrupt now days. Polititians from the left and the right are generally just a bunch of self serving sociopaths. Australia a great country but theres so much red tape and regulations here. Luckily theres been a commodity boom going on... otherwise Australia would be falling behind economically.
Will, I would seriously look at Montevideo Uruguay (it's just south of Brazil, north of Argentina). I thought Uruguay was some sort of jungle country until I actually learned a bit about it. Small country, yet very stable, low taxes (no income tax), beaches, clean, low crime, very modern.
No, not what I am talking about... Has nothing to do with politics. If you want to escape taxes, Argentina is not the place IMO... Especially if you ever expect to receive packages from others... They will either be opened or kept, pilfered by customs... Beautiful country though...
