I suggest you to surf in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing if you dont understand something make your answers.
Here's a link which would explain cloud computing in detail : techsaber (dot) com / 2012 / 11 / 11/ cloud-computing-explained/ (Yes, it is my own blog) 1. Refer to the link 2. Rackspace, Amazon 3/4. The concept of cloud computing dates back to the 1960's. The phrase originates from the cloud symbol used by flow charts and diagrams to symbolize the Internet. The diagram to the left underscores the idea that any computer connected to the web has access to a pool of computing power, applications and files.

Source: bluemilecloud.com

The first reported public use of the term came in August of 2006 at a search engine conference in San Jose, Calif. when then Google [GOOG647.18-0.08 (-0.01%) ] CEO Eric Schmidt described one approach to data storage as "cloud computing." 5. Instant scalability, hourly billing, etc.(refer the link for more) 6. Next to none. 7. A server that has instant scalability and NAS, in which an array of computers is networked for performance scalability and like if one server fails your image is instantly transferred to the other. (YOur image is on network drives, not internal drives, only computation is done on a server) 8. Sorry, didn't really understand your question. A cloud can be used for a lot of things, just like a dedi or vps. 9. Didnt understand your question. And isn't this the same as 8? 10 . Scalability , hourly pricing, and many more. Refer to the article. 11. Both. I use it for both business and game server hosting. 12. Cloud computing doesn't need any software/hardware, and it is already very affordable. If you cant afford it, go for a vps or shared hosting. 13. Yes, much safer than other types of hosting. 14, 15, 16. I have no idea, a google search would give you enough information. 17. Performance doesn't drop no matter how far the server is. Maybe the transfer speed would be a little slower, but that is usually unnoticeable . 18. It will replace current types of hosting and there are many cloud computing projects going on, I am a part of one such project myself, and these are going to change the face of computing. 19. This thing is possible today as well. Search for thinclients. 20. Yes, there used to exist one platform called OnLive, though its no more, cloud computing can be a lot for the gaming industry.
Whew, it took me a lot of time to type this out. Hope this clears your doubts about cloud computing. If you dont understand something, feel free to ask me
Thanks you even helped grow my knowledge, i knew a bit about cloud computing but your answers help much more
Remember though not all cloud computing is redundant. Many are glorified VPS node clusters. If you are looking for cloud hosting, make sure it is fully redundant before doing so. It will cost more but isnt the reason for buying cloud in the first place for redundancy and scalability? I guess it depends if you plan on making a cloud or buying cloud services, if buying make sure you find out the facts first.
