I doubt that it will significantly increase your traffic unless you create content that will go viral. Creating such content with every new tweet (with a link to your site) is extremely hard. You can use promoted tweets and trends and promote your account in order to reach larger audience but that is not cheap. I suggest that you write useful information first and gain some followers and then use Twitter to let people know about discount coupons/giveaways or contests (where a lot of people can win or where are very good prizes). Then you'll get many retweets.
