Help! New Computer Won't Run Any 'Bots' ie: Badder Adder

    Hi,

I'm posting here as I hope someone can help me!

I have been using one of those social networking bots for the last 8 months to manage an account I have on MySpace and I recently bought a new PC running Windows XP Home. My old system was from 2000, but I was running XP Home SP 2 on it and Badder Adder was working fine.

Anyway, I've spent the last week transferring files and installing software packages on the new system and for some reason, when I went to transfer the activation from my old Bot program (Badder Adder) for use my new computer I could not get the program to work.

So figuring this was an issue with the Badder Adder software, I decided to hunt around for a new Bot to use.

I settled on Adder Robot and downloaded the trial version to give it a spin.

To my shock, I am getting the very same issues with Adder Robot as I got with Badder Adder. So then I tried another one called Space Station.... same problem happens. With each of these bot type programs, I am getting the same problem and the programs won't run!

I have no idea what the program architecture is in each of these Bot type programs, so I am figuring there is some kind of thing they all have in common that something on my system does not like. For the life of me, I can't figure out what it could be or how to get Badder Adder or something similar working for me!

    This is the scenario:

    1.) I install software
2.) Attempt to log on to MySpace using the Bot
3.) I get a failure message that says:
"Adder Robot (or whatever package) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
4.) Program shuts down and I can't use it at all. It won't get past the login.

I did some reading and downloaded the latest .NET patches and updates, so that is all up to date.

Also I am running the following security programs (not sure if these are conflicting with the Bot's ability to run)
    McAffee VirusScan
    ZoneAlarm
    Windows Defender

I am running .NET Framework 2.0

Windows XP is updated with the latest updates.

I generally use Mozilla Firefox to browse, but I see from reading posts on various forums regarding these bots that some people had issues with Internet Explorer 7. I am currently upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 and this is one of the browsers I use. Though it seems that some people are having no problems with IE7 while others are. In fact, I have IE7 on my old system and Badder Adder is running fine on that one.

My new system specs are as follows:
    Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4200
    2.2GHz
    2GB RAM
Operating System: Windows XP Home SP 2

I am connected through a LAN (Ethernet) system in my home on a High Speed Cable connection to the net.

The only thing I thought might be messing me up is the use of ZoneAlarm on the system. So I shut down ZoneAlam and tried to log in with the bot, but the same issue I detailed above happens. The program shuts down.

Can anyone help shed some light on why no Bot programs are running on my system?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Not sure but i am guessing that minimum requirements might be an issue here. Do you need any special software to run those i mean flash or anything like that which you dont have. Are you installing it from an admin user of your computer. Do you have full permissions ?

Check your firewall and also any routers you may have inline to your internet connection.

    Jaree:

I think exceed the minimum requirements for the application. It worked on my old crappy 550mzh system with Win XP Home on it. So this new sytem is much more powerful. I don't think it's the requirements. As far as I know I just need .NET and I have 2.0 installed. There really aren't any specs on the software app. The program is called Badder Adder.
I am the only user on the computer and I believe I have full permissions (I asume anyway!). Where would I check that out? There is just one account on this system.

    Thanks for the help!

What specifically should I check in my Firewall. I am running ZoneAlarm (basic). I actually shut ZoneAlam down completely to test to see if that was the issue and the same problem happened.

What about the router? I have a LinkSys router that all the computers are plugged in to. But I am not sure what I should look for in the router. Any ideas? I didn't install the router, it was here already.

    Thanks!

ZoneAlarm is still running somehow until you uninstall it, I remember this causing me to not be able to run some software in the past...

I've been trying to remember what software I had a problem with, and I believe it was an FTP server. I had stopped and closed ZoneAlarm, but the problem persisted until I uninstalled it.

    Strange!

I kept digging into the error I saw in the MS window that comes up when a program crashes and saw some problem with flash6.ocx. So on a hunch I decided to Unistall Flash (I have the new 9 version) and what do you know... all bots working again.

So why would Flash hose a friend adder Bot?

    Weird.

So now I can't have the Flash player on my system if I want to run an adder bot.

    That's stoopid.
