Magento is a feature-rich, professional Open Source eCommerce platform independent from third party plug-ins, with greater flexibility and scalability.

Switching from current platform to a Magento platform may be helpful in adding Multiple products and using it with an ease as well as with many other rich features.

Try to make a list on what all features you want for your eCommerce website and specify if this can fulfil with your current theme and if not and you are looking for more rich features that is not possible in current platform then you can switch with Magento.

Magento is the best eCommerce software for running online stores. It offers more flexibility and control to the users. It's easy to customize and comes with various features which can help you to make a successful eCommerce business store.

    Hello,
Sigmainfo is right, create a checklist with all features that you need and than check Magento if they provide these functions out-of-the-box. If not than check extensions. Most likely you will find what you are searching for. However, consider that Magento is resource-consuming and will require a dedicated server otherwise it will be quite slow.

Magento is really good but it asks for lots of resources. But I think it is the best open source ecommerce cms.

First of all Magento requires dedicated hosting. Are you ready to pay more for hosting?
Magento is extremely feature-rich, it does everything for you, while Opencart or Prestashop (for example) help you do what you want.
Magento will cost you huge money, unless you are a Magento programmer.

I would advice Opencart or Prestashop give a serious try.

I don't think that it is true to say Magento requires dedicated hosting. There are lots of Magento sites run on shared hosting.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Magento requires dedicated hosting. It is going to come down to a number of factors from visitor counts to how well you setup your installation. Is Magento more resource intensive than other carts? Yes, but you get a host of powerful features for that trade off.

But to cut a long discussion short you can get decent results from Magento if you use a optimized host starting around $25-35/month. Just make sure you are working with a host that can handle your potential growth down the road.

If you want shoot me a PM and I'll send over the info for the hosting provider I use.
