Hello DPers, So I achieved PR4 for my tech blog some days back after 3 months site has started. I didn;t post anything in my blog for 1 month (11 Oct - Yesterday) but today I posted an article, but it's not indexed yet. I have posted it 7 hours ago. Why is it so? I am new to these PR stuff. Shouldn't a PR4 index my posts faster? What's the problem u think? Let me know asap. Thanks.
PR is not related with indexing, give it some time and do some bookmarking for said article, it will be indexed.
Check the google bot last visit to your blog.If it last visited after your posting it means it has ignored your post and may indexed it on next visit
PR is not related with indexing, I have a PR1 site and Google indexed my content within 60 Sec . And i have another PR4 site but Google need 1-2 Day to indexed my Content .
Then how does it index within minutes? That's what I actually want. If PR doesn't do that what's the use of PR then?
PR is just a measure (idiotic one). As already said it has nothing to do with the indexing process. Usually, the more often you update something on your site, the faster it will get re-indexed. You said you haven't posted anything for a month so this is quite normal. Creating a new link to the updated content will also speed it up. Do not worry so much, it will get indexed
PR is not at all related to the indexing. For e.g. check my signature site and you will see the number of pages indexed. This is primarily related to the content on your site and ofcourse quality of the material.
So quality content will improve my indexing, but then how sites like Techcrunch or engadget get indexed within 1-5 minutes?
Actually, mostly the above are wrong. PR can influence indexing, as it (particularly on inner pages) can influence whether GoogleBot makes a decision to crawl further or not, which pages it will give priority to crawl. However, your problem is to do with frequency of update and not being an authority site (unlike the two you mentioned). Google is crawling them constantly for new content (articles they post and comments or whatever else UGC is available there). Stop worrying, just update your site and establish your brand.
Rayan is quite right, That's one of the reason that Google will visit, but if there is no "fresh" content on monthly/weekly/daily/hourly bases it might be a problem.
Daily update influence Google Bot behaviour and it is likely the cause of the slow index. Earning PR4 is a great but it won't stay forever on that rank without daily update. As alternative solution, you can ping your new content or add one new hubpages post with a link back to that new post.
