I am hosting my current website, designed in wordpress at Godaddy.com. It is unbelievably slow and I desperately want to change. Any suggestions for good and fast hosting that is optimized for wordpress sites?
I've heard many of the same kind of reviews with GoDaddy, have you contacted their support in regards to this? Do you have a budget in mind or have any particular requirements such as disk space/bandwidth?
That is my same experience. You will find many complaints about Go Daddy being slow (especially with Wordpress) and that is because the server is overloaded. I host my Wordpress with A Small Orange and Wordpress loads very fast. I have been with A Small Orange for over 5 years. I recommend them highly. You can read more about my experience with Go Daddy on the A Small Orange Forum. Almost any web host will be better than Go Daddy.
I should say that among the top hosting providers, only Bluehost is mentioned on WordPress Hosting List http://wordpress.org/hosting/ Speaking about Bluehost, we should say that this is a typical, supposedly unlimited, shared hosting provider. BlueHost hosting company is the perfect solution for small websites, but think twice if you plan to choose it for big projects. WordPress recommendation and Anytime Money-Back Guarantee is definitely a plus, but Hosting security problems and Bad attitude towards users is not the company advantage. The main company pros and cons will be given below: The main company advantages: Reliability and professional support Anytime Money-Back Guarantee Over 40 "How-To" videos and texts WebhostingWatch specialists analyzed the quality of Bluehost support team using 3 types of communicationhone, email and live chat .The results of the investigation can be see on the next picture:
I would suggest you to choose Hostgator. Even i'm hosting my blog bleepingtech.com using Hostgator and i'm very much satisfied. What more you can get 25% discount as well. If you have any doubt feel free to contact me.
The users of Hostgator more and more often admit that they are asked to upgrade to a higher plans after buying unlimited shared hosting packages, as these plans are not so unlimited as this is given on the main page of the company. This is usually made when the guaranteed money back period is over. I found the following example in one of the feedbacks: " HostGator offer unlimited yearly plans which is clearly false advertising. The reason for this is that they start throttling your hosting service as soon as the money back Gaurantee period has expired)." In spite of these facts the company users mostly leave positive reviews on different forums, saying good words about the prices and the company discounts. As fot the server performance, the users say that sometimes Hostgator servers can be overloaded, but in this case the support team quickly resolves the problem by transferring the site to a different server. I also know that the owner of the company personally corrects the work of the support department and can react to any abuse message quickly.According to the information from Webhostinggeeks forum the ratio of positive and negative reviews is the following( which I don't think is true)
Its depend with your requirement to your hosting. You can try another hosting features, such as ASP.Net. You can refer of my signature for more detail.
I'm hosting my Wordpress site on DreamHost and they're good, even though I've only used GoDaddy in the past so I don't have a large basis of comparison.
