Just went thru Simple Machine Forum (SMF)...and I'm thinking it looks real good...

There's many a skin/template that can be done with it...nice.

So besides VBulletin and PHPBB, what do you guys think of this forum script? And its free...

I support smf...but really lacks at SEO friendliness. The SMFSEO mod is still not available for 1.1 series.

    It's free.

Also, I've used the SMF script on a few of my sites, with a lot of luck. However, it has many, many, many features you'll never need. Also, they have really good support forums.

I really prefer SMF to phpBB..but phpBB does have more mods and stuff..SMF has been working fine for me on my soccer related site, the themes are getting better and not to long ago rockettheme.com offered some really cool SMF themes.

I currently use SMF for one of my sites as well. It is rather scalable. It has excellent support and it is free. Very easy to install mods and hacks as well.

All this while I always wondered what is this cool forum script they used at Joomla forum. Also, I've seen the skins...and awesome, I must say.

I think VBulletin may be the safest but SMF is the sexiest and best looking forum script, that is FOC. Also it seems to load fast...(Joomla forum loads fast for me)

It will most likely be the script I will use for a forum.

SMF Vs PHPBB is like a video casettes again DVDs (SMF being the DVDs)

VB is by far better, but is paid and for me SMF is the best free one out there.

VBulletin rules and I dont think the licence is expensive, but SMF is not bad and certainly better than PHPBB
