Really? Democrats are treating this like it's his first term, and the past four years never happened.

    Oh dear.

"There is a perception that Romney surged in the closing weeks of the campaign, riding a strong showing in the first of three debates with Obama before cresting a wave of rank-and-file Republican energy that, depending on whose finger was on the pulse, did or did not falter before Hurricane Sandy pushed the campaign to the back of the media's and the nation's consciousness.

But blaming a hurricane for defeat does not cut it.

Often derided as a nation of idiots, American voters might have redeemed themselves in the eyes of the world – and it's safe to assume that a good number of those who ticked the box for Obama were among the 47 per cent who Romney wrote off as victim-types about whom he did not have to care.

Thanks for redeeming yourselves in the eyes of the world Americans.

Watching Charlie Rose. It was taped BEFORE yesterday's election. Tom Brokaw had an interesting take as he lamented this election - he basically said that Presidential elections have become lying contests and the best liar wins!

One of Charlie's guests, Amy Gutmann, president of the liberal and prestigious University of Pennsylvania, amplified that and said "Mario Cuomo may have said 'we campaign in poetry and govern in prose'. We've been campaigning...in fiction"

LoL, I read that yesterday but decided against posting it, salt, wounds.. you know.

This is the America everyone thought it was originally. Moving back towards a place we can look up to and possibly aspire to become like. Now we just got to work out how to get them back to believing in truth, honesty and integrity being worthwhile tenets to hold on to, though it is probably only the right-wing factions that thinks they're not.

I would have thought you would have avoided posting it because it claims the US is "Often derided as a nation of idiots". Posting something like that just makes you seem like a dumb ass. Its a poor representation of your country.

Yes, that was the line that stood out to me too. Not that it's untrue, as your country is often derided as idiots, which stems from the Bush years mainly, and even you must see a lot of 'stupid American' comments. It's not saying you are idiots, just stating people often say that here.

I get it. Its like saying, "Not that y'all are dumb asses, we just call you that a lot". Funnier still, the same people wonder why we care less and less about your opinions. Seriously, if I had only this forum to base my opinions on, my opinion of Australia would have dropped quite a bit.

From anecdotal experience, I've noticed that people from the UK and Australia in the middle to upper income brackets have no issues with our Republican presidents. The cottagers are a whole different story.

Look, Obama hasn't failed in his second term as President yet, and Dems are already quick to assign blame!

Quite to the contrary, I believe there's an overwhelming increase in the number of people expecting more and more. As such, that entitlement crowd now outnumbers those creating wealth. As a result, all we'll see for years to come is a move towards Europe's model. Painful as it seems for many. In the end, the ones hurt the most will be those that asked to keep the course on the status quo.
