    You can use Alexa key toolbar for day to day to increase update for your website, Mostly buy links and banners for promotion and advertising your website.

    To increase your alexa ranking links or traffic...do some best off-page optimization..i.e.
    - Forum Commenting
    - Blog Commenting
    - Link Wheel
    - Web 2.0 pages
    - Social bookmarking etc etc...
