Will the right wing learn to compromise when President Obama is reelected?

When President Obama is re-elected then that will prove beyond doubt that President Obama's plan is what America's majority wanted and the right-wing 'destroy the Democrats' agenda will be proven as the rubbish it truly is.

If you're a right-leaning [censored] that's currently dragging on President Obama's heels then please GTFO of his way, go on an extra-long holiday (about 3.5 years). Shut the hell up and let him get on with his plan without rejection or sabotage at every level.

After 4 years of two steps forward and 1 step back having to dance around the Republicans, I think surely when Obama is re-elected the right wing will pull their head in and get with the program or do you expect they will continue to fight and sabotage every thing President Obama tries whilst continually holding the country to ransom?

Because working together (compromising where possible) to fix a problem, rather than fighting every little thing (including your own health plan just for the heck of it) will get things back on track much quicker. At present the Republicans are fighting just because they can, and it's been working well, but at America's expense imho. That's what's destroying confidence in the bubble, it needs some long term good news to get people back on track. At present it seems noone can get anything done without a huge huge huge fight.

Bush, you should acquaint yourself with the structure of our government. In 2010, Americans put the Republicans in control of the House in one of the largest repudiations of the party in power in nearly a century. In essence, the Republican "obstructionists" (To use a word you probably read in some left wing media) were elected to power to do EXACTLY what they are doing by the people they represent. It was a spanking to the president and his party of monumental proportions.

At that point, the president had a few options. He could have started leading and making compromises, like leaders do. He could have got legislation passed and problems resolved in a bi-partisan manner, which would have moved American forward. Sure the solutions would have had some elements he didnt like, but at least he would have had solutions.

What he decided to do instead was try and bypass congress by making his case directly to the American people. He tried explaining why what he wanted needed to be passed exactly as it was, and why the newly elected "Obstructionist" congress was nothing but an impediment to progress. He demonized. He lied. He cajoled. He failed.

You see, the House comes up for reelection every two years, so if he had been able to convince Americans that the House Republicans were really the problem, America would be voting them back out in 2012. So what do the polls tell us is happening? Republicans are keeping their super majority in the House and picking up more seats in the Senate. Essentially, Americans are telling the president they don't buy it. They are telling him to lead, to compromise. He didn't listen to the American people in 2010, and he isn't listening to them now.

If by chance Obama does get reelected, he will have fewer allies in congress than he did before. If it doen't happen this election, by 2014, the Senate is predicted to become Republican as well. To make matters worse, if he does survive, he will be weaker for the battering he took to get reelected. The real question is, if he survives, will he start to lead and compromise? Looking at his behavior post his 2010 ass kicking, I'd guess the answer to that question is no.

Anyway, this is all immaterial. Looking at the state of the race, I have a pretty strong feeling you are going to be saying President Romney and Ex-President Obama in January.

What a contradictory post. That picture above those words.

Regarding the topic of the post, have you noticed Americans just voted for the status quo? Same president, same Congress, same Senate, same gridlock. If you think house Republicans are suddenly going to roll over and vote for tax hikes and big government, you are smoking crack.

There is a bright side if the recounts in Ohio and Florida confirm Obama's reelection. He will be in office long enough to impeach over Benghazi.

The majority has spoken. Even though Republicans tried to inject their ideology they did not succeed.

I think it's great news for the world. The old bones knew the outcome but the MSM gave me a few flutters lol. Now all the Republicans need to do is let Obama get on with his mandate. The people have spoken.

It's really great news. I hope the Republicans will get to work together with the democrats. A fine example of that is New Jersey Governor Christie.

So Wall Street crashes (again) on an Obama electoral victory. Instead of waiting for the President to lead (one could die of old age waiting for that), Speaker Bohner immediately reaches across the isle with a deal on taxes to address the fiscal crisis.

This is it. This is where the rubber hits the road. You won reelection on a photo op of bi-partisan cooperation with Chris Christie in New Jersey, after which you ran off and campaigned while New Yorkers and New Jersey people lived in the cold without electricity, gas,or water. Now is the time to show you can really work in a bi-partisan manner to resolve our nation's problems.

Any takers on whether Obama responds to this offer with the same demonization he has used over the last four years?

So Obama won this election with the popular vote of 3 Million more than Mittie.

Dubya won his election with a popular vote of 500,000 less than Big Al.

Great to see Obama win. Two great days of celebration in Australia in a row. The Melbourne Cup and Obama's victory - woohoo! Isn't it great to be alive.

One of the first signs of sanity is recognising it's 'you' that's the weird one. You'll get there, as America becomes whole again. "Ahah!, they were right" - remember that thought.

The problem in your plan is that you think there is someone in the Whitehouse uniting America. The last four provide all the evidence we need to know that isn't the case.

The way I see it Democrats try... Republicans fight all chance of a compromise, they don't even contemplate giving those evil Democrats an inch. They're not even conservatives, they're sticklers.

If that were true, Clinton would have never accomplished what he did, and Reagan would never have accomplished what he did. We have two parties because people have different beliefs. It has been that way since the beginning and it will be that way into perpetuity.

A leader unites us based on what we have in common, a loser divides us based on how we are different. You can look at the last four years and, more specifically, how the president ran for re-election, and immediately classify him into one of the two categories above.
