Hi, I was wondering, does sitemap really helps for your website if the website is static? Like I have a page with 20 static pages on it, and all of them are indexed by google. Do I need sitemap?
I recommend you to use one, yes. Google uses them to better understand the structure of your site. Might help getting crawled/indexed faster, especially when you put new content up. Otherwise I didn't feel any difference, been using them for quite some time... I'm unsure whether it would have been "worse" if I wouldn't have used them...
Sitemap tell search engine crawlers which part of the page are located where. With sitemap you might get better exposure. I recommend you to use one.
Sitemap is used to notify search engines when there is an update on website. Like on a wordpress website, when we post a new blog post and the site map of the site will notify that website has been updated and then search engine will crawl your website and index new pages. However as you said your side is static and it has only 20 pages and your all pages are indexed and if you dont updated your site soften (means you dont add new pages to your website) its not necessary for you to have sitemap for your website. No harm in having. But it is not necessary. You will get your pages indexed by search engines even without sitemaps.
i believe sitemap is a MUST for a dynamic web content. example would be a site like classified ads wherein your site got updated 10X times a day depending on advertiser.
If your website has simple structure and less number of pages then you may ignore it. But personally i would recommend you to go with it as it helps the search engines to understand the site structure in a better way.
