Hi,i was wondering how much BandWidth did digg consumed when your page got to the front page and did it cause your hosting account to be suspended because there was too many people going at the same time? How many backlinks did you get after you got to the front page?
My site that made it to the front page is extremely small, but I got about 25,000 uniques, they used about 4GB of bandwidth and my logs show ~12,000 unique referrers, which is almost the same thing as incoming links. My hosting didn't get suspended, didn't even get a warning e-mail from them.
Hi,thanks for the reply. Is your dugg page just static and it only contained text? Or was it contained with flash and pictures?
I think any decent hosting will do fine. I never got dugg but I think I will do fine if I was. I do my hosting with lunarpages.
Most hosting account would be fine, as for how much bandwidth it would use it would all depend on your site. Do you have a lot of graphics and images or have files that can be downloaded from your site?
Flash and some pictures.should i at least upgrade to a vps? I have have once got a sudden surge of traffic a few months ago from a site and i reach 120+ people at the same time.
I got my proxy site about 8 months ago in Digg's front page and i recieved 11k uniques then my execced my bandwidth limit and after some hours i changed to new hosting and still recieving uniques.. in total it was about 35k uniques.. By he way, the site was httproxy.net (sold)
I got about 17k uniques from a DIGG story about a crazy gamer a few weeks ago... no idea how much BW it used as it was on a blogger blog hehehehe
yeah but blogger blogs seem to be very slow at times...I understand why people have these wordpress blogs =) but I guess if you dont want to pay for BW then blogger is ok...
