well, if you can explain to us here how the paypal-function works, I'm sure you will find people joining your forum very quickly. Of course another issue is: how are you going to keep the site up if you are paying people?

Your current forum structure (Payments) cannot work forever, as soon as you stop paying the people will go

currently for paypal payments, when a member requests there money, they can reply to the main thread, or send me a pm. All funds for the site are coming from another companys profits, so this sytem will be running for along time.

    thanks steve

Yes, this is the weirdest business model ever. I mean DP makes it very clear that the money is coming from google- and on a 50% basis. That makes sense. Just paying anybody to post is asking for trouble, IMO. I mean - will you pay people for senseless posts? Only for starting threads that get replied to? You need some sort of rational limit here - or you will get major disrespect from people when you stop paying them.

yes certain forums are non pay forums, full details can be viewed at this thread. http://www.webmastersroom.com/about308.html

this way we are trying to keep the site related to webmaster topics and webmaster content.

has anyone actually got any other marketing ideas? this is what this thread is about. i may start a constuctive critism thread and i will let you no the thread id.

    thanks steve

    Member Milestones:
2 people get a prize - the xxxx member plus the person who referred him. However it would need to be a qualified member (minimum number of quality posts). This could be regular intervals for members (1,000th, 2000th, 3000th or something weekly/monthly.

The ideal prize would likely need to be something webmaster related.

Also keeping the topics relevant and useful will serve a much better purpose than just getting a lot of 'inactive' users who dont return often and dont contribute much - so ensuring good topical threads are regularly started and dont become spammed out should help the quality of information.

More marketing is it take it more viral and onto any major marketing blogs that are not a direct competitor (or get people talking about it in the blog world in general).

Instead of just paying people for posts, try doing an affiliate program. IE the more people they invite, which reach X amount of posts they will receive Y amount of dollars or a gift.

I would think this form of affiliate program would be more successful and provide a higher quality content for what your doing.
