Do niche categories make money with amazon?

    Hi everyone,

I recently stumbled upon a set of niche products that has very little competition online, and I can get a pretty good domain name for selling the products.
The main three keywords/products this site would sell have about 8-12K exact searches according to google, and there are many smaller products that can be carried too under this category.

My question is, is it worth it? These products sell for about $10-50 on Amazon, and at 4% I am not sure I would generate much? I am completely new to Amazon affiliate sales, so any advice would be welcomed!

I make $150ish a month with a site that sells $7 items and only has 1000 searches per month. Who the typical buyer is and what their shopping habits are count more than searches and the product cost.

Hi jgman1, If what you say is accurate then, you might have stumbled across a real gem and certainly worth pursuing. I personally don't promote products of that value, but it sounds like a great way to dip your toes in the Amazon water based on the amount of searches and if it works then, just rinse and repeat the process.

    Thanks for the reply!
The domain is ****supplier.com, with the **** being the main ingredient/product of which there are many different products.

Is it possible to make good money with these low cost ($10-30) products?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't have a clue, as I don't know what keyword research you've carried out and are you going to feed a hungry, dying or saturated market?

In my opinion selling products not very expensive, like books can make you good money from Amazon. At the same time selling tech products can also be lucrative in the long run.

Whilst I'm a bit of a book worm myself the truth of the matter is that, people are now buy digital products like the Kindle and similar products like tablets that you can read digital books in PDF format, so there's a huge decline in the sale of psychical books and not now a good area to promote. Tech products like TVs, Blu-Rays, Home Cinema Systems and Tablets are all the rage and offer some excellent selling opportunities.

In marketing you always want to feed a hungry market!

I have a blog, just about gaming gear.
I´m promting there really niche products like the Razer Black Widow, or something like that.
Trust me, it still work. I have just with this blog (he´s hostet free), a monthly income around 300$. (without PPC, just with amazon affiliate links!)

Niche sites with lower priced products can generate fair revenue especially when you take into account that Amazon does a great job of upselling. Remember, you receive your affiliate commission on everything that the purchaser buys from Amazon, not just the product they clicked through on.

Sell high priced products with a good rating and reviews. When you look at traffic also look at whether it's buying traffic looking for things like reviews, the best product etc.

But you need lower priced products which sell well so that you can bump up your rate of commission.
