Why so many SEO experts still offer directories submissions?

I was browsing the SEO offers in the Services forum here on DP and I was amazed by that they still offer directory submission. I think directory submission is an old-school SEO tactic that no longer works for quite a long time.

I wonder why so many SEOers still do it?

 

Because it still works, but if it's done with High Quality sites, not automation and other spam tactics. I ranked many of my clients sites with web directories and also article directories even after panda and penguin.

Because it is an easy and cheap service to provide when submitting to many low-quality directories.

Directory backlinks are only worthwhile if it is a relevant, high-quality directory with a high PR. These are hard to come by. Either way they are not as powerful as they use to be.

 

Maybe, just to add on their SEO service BTW, I no longer use it and to submit to Quality Web Directories? It's really hard to get approved unless you pay.

 

All kind of relevant backlinks are important as long as they appear natural to google, it does not matter whether it's directory or blog comment or web2.0 or something else

Just make sure that not all backlinks have your desired keyword, to make it look natural even use some generalized anchor text in the backlinks and always try to get backlinks from relevant sites only

Because still the Directory Submissions are approving the links and giving good quality backlinks , when we submit into Good PR sites....after Google algorithm updated.

 

Directory submission is more important in SEO. Because we can the build the free and quality back links by the help of directory submission. Directories website have good pr and some are authority web directories. Web directories also give us good traffic and visitors so it is the most important .

 

It is very good source for back link and still provides us good results ....

 

it's ok to get some links from HIGH PR Directories - the ideea is not to have all the backlinks from such sites.

Directories are still a very important activity of off page SEO. It takes some time for approval but after approval it gives long term result.

 

Article submission is still relevant as long as the article or webpage have a rich content with long tail keyword densely populated smartly. But this just my two cents worth.

The basic criteria behind SEO, is to get Quality links from various sites as of now.

The one & only best way to have the QL to the site is Directory submission, as we may get good number of the QL's along with some domain authority with out troubling anything to the site.
