    Hehe...

I think you better take a look at this guys...

    http://www.spiffysoft.com/myposter/

    He's a bot.

Shawn, I suggest that you ban the user NewsGuy, as all of his posts have been made using the above link.

Just thought It best to let you guys know

GuyFromChicago, If you are reading this, I think you'd be the ideal person to warn others about this script... (What with your site all about forums ;))

    I forgot to add this...

It's the list of forums used for the script:

    http://www.spiffysoft.com/myposter/boards.php
    :)

    What a concept.

Someone must have caught on. That page now shows a "404 Not Found."

The links don't work for me, but I noticed this member recently joined 2 other forums aside from this one. I was suspicious at the time.

How did you discover this SE?

Basically, someone else discovered it, then used it to perform a test post. (a guy named Dave Bailey)

That test post was then listed on a forum that I mod.

    I wish I'd taken a screen grab.

Edit - This is the list that was used...

Each of those went to a forum category...

Looks like someone already changed "his" signature again too...

I had it saying something along the lines of "Ban me"!

How come we appear at the bottom of that list... the whole point of calling it Aardvark Business was so that we appear at the top...! :D

As for newsguy... I don't think he's as bad as people are making out. He has been responding to posts at our place afterall...

I think your forum may be one of the exceptions…

I really don't have a problem with the script, just think the user should have been up front about how the posts were being generated, and, not ask questions in dozens of forums that he or she had no intention of answering. I actually think it's a pretty good way to broadcast news to quite a few forums at one time, but again, think the owner of the script should have been up front with forum owners about how the posts were being generated.

What really shocks me is that he or she didn't even password protect those pages.

ps - nice to see you here altyfc :D
pss - my forum didn't even make the list so don't feel bad ;)

I think it was clever - stupid - but clever. If he puts that cleverness into a less offensive manner, he just might come up with the next big thing.

What next big thing? Some new method for trying to spam forums for sig links?

I don't call it clever, any more than I call trying to construct spam to slip by spam filters clever.

I just call it freakin' annoying.

I'm sorry but you've been voted off the island.

This thread is two years old and you're way too late to be included.

Additionally, this thread is two years old and you failed to meet the IQ requirements to be included.
