    Hi All,

I am in the process of getting a logo designed for my business and want to know
what is the normal formats I should receive it in.

It will be going on stationary, website header etc and will maybe need to be altered a
little or the colour changed in the future.

What formats should I request? Just PSD and JPEG??

Anything else I should look out for???

    Many thanks in advance.

If you get the .psd, you should be ok (besides de other jpeg/png formats, obviously).

It depends on what program is being used to design it. If it is a vector logo then you should certainly get the ai or eps file. If it's a more complex logo that has been designed in photoshop then make sure to get the psd

You should request vector fomat file.Because vector images can be re-sized as big as you want without loosing it's quality.Adobe Illustrator is very good vector based software, you can edit vector files.:)

You should be receiving quite a few formats (.PSD is not one of them, I don't know why people above say it is, no one should be designing logos in Photoshop).

You should receive a .JPG, .GIF, .ai (Illustrator vector), .eps

As a cartoon designer myself, I usually tend to give transparent png by default, though I'll also give whatever format the client requests. You are totally safe with PSD however.

For stationery headers, .eps or .ai should be your choice for their scalability advantage without compromising quality. For web headers, .png files can be your choice for transparency and graphics work supporting benefits.

yes we are use PSD format. But if you need to place your logo in somewhere in other website they required small sizes. If you shrink it. The quality is gone. So you also need Corel DRAW format as .cdr or Adobe illustrator format. Because illustrator and Corel DRAW are vector based software's. If you make your logo as small or big Vector based format does not affect the logo quality.

psd is a raw format of Adobe Photoshop file. If you want to edit your logo in some other time ,you need psd format. But psd format does not used in website images. Because website does not support psd format for images. So you need jpeg and png. png offer without background images. That mean transparent images.jpeg or png for images is your choice . But everyone must have it original raw file format for future editing.
