Hi, I was wondering if any of you might share his/her knowledge in regards. It is not only the name of the site but also part of the domain name. Most probably there will be not a chance to monetize such a shop using adsense, even though it is not a porn site, but a shop selling sexy items, like lingery, books, vibrators and toys. Do you know of any other way to monetise such a site if adsense is out of the question? Thanks a lot for your input
The domain would be okay.. But i think your stretching it a bit with vibrators and toys... If i were you i would ask mr G
Well, if I really would have to go and ask G about it - I'd rather not. The thing is to be able to monetize this site one way, or an other without making G suspicious of all the sites that I run, and have them check extra carefully each and every site of mine. Have been reading about the images next to their ads and people getting suspended, or almost, and do not want such a thing happening to me too... Maybe I am just acting as a paranoic, but I have been with adsense for about 5 months now, and it looks like to me that with them one never knows...
I'm guessing google doesn't want to place it's ads on a sex shop. bikinis are quite a bit different than toys that people do you know what with....................... but ask them and see. p.s. if you are selling stuff why not just focus on getting better sales?
Thanks for the replies! Motter, the thing is that I am in the middle of the purchase of the shop/domain... The shop is almost completed, and I could take it with whomever and selling whatever. Accoirding to me the best thing will be to settle as affiliate for a big enough company which is paying better than Amazon. In any case a shop for which I weouldn't have to acquire the stuff, sell it and ship it myself. A virtual shop, and with as little work involved, except for marketing it... plain and simple. For as much as I know marketing, I have observed that the once earning lots of $$$$ are the once who not only sell the stuff in their shops, but monetize their traffic with each and every possible means, but smartly and without irritating their customers... So I do not think that I'll go for pop unders and such. But I also do not plan to rely only on the shop's sales. Thanks to all for your insights!
Oh yes, and does Amazon carry Google's Adsense? I think they do, and I also know that they do sell sexy things LOL, meaning...the bigger you are as publisher, the more you can achieve with being an Adsense affiliate...
This is not something you should shrug off. You might be fine for a month, 6 months, even a year or two. Eventually you will have a site firmly indexed with links out there, and a lot of sweat and blood put into it. Then one day Google could find out what you are doing, and suspend your account. All that hard work would be gone in a flash, and you obviously do not want that to happen. I suggest you make sure your sites completely comply with the AdSense TOS, because your hard work is worth keeping.
Thank you for sharing opinions and knowledge and if I do get the site I'll have to write them even though I don't think there is a chance to get approved
ta-da! I won the site and am really glad with it for several reasons. The site is over 2 years old. Has a PR3 and some traffic still even if it hasn't been promoted at all, not even finished etc. It looks really good and there are several things that are possible with it. Except for the shop, there is a forum within the site, newsletter, but I'll add a blog to it too. Please, people that have such kind of a web site - get in touch by PM and I'll share the URL with you. I'd like to exchange links with sites of the same niche, and will appreciate advice as well. Thanks a lot
I once asked about it from Google. And answer was YES you can have word sexy or 'nude' in your domain name. But content should not be adult.
One more thing to think about, if you are going to use Google adsense on this site, make sure it is not a site that once had adsense on it and then their account was banned. I don't know how to find that information but someone else will.
I was told the site was without adsense from the start and I don't have reasons to doubt it as this is not the 1st time purchasing from this person. Intergrity and trust is a must when dealing online, at least for me.
The word "sexy" is alright as long as the site does not feature adult-related subjects. "Adsense" is a NO. Google wrote to me as follows: "You have asked about employing AdSense on your newly-bought domain -------.com . In addition to the "------" bit being a trademark of ---, please note that "AdSense" is a Google trademark and, according to our programme policies (http://www.google.com/adsense/policies ) you are not permitted to display Google ads on the domain in discussion."
