I've played around with joomla and would go back to it if there was a extension for joomla to use a feature simular to drupals "Taxonomy(sp?)" and custom URL features. Anyone know if they make such a thing?

For custom URLs in Joomla OpenSEF is extremely useful and although I've never used it I know Phil Taylor does a "tags" plugin for Joomla

Joomla is the best CMS I've ever tested. But I will NOT recommend it to novice users, because if you want to modify it you need to understand PHP.

Joomla has core SEF functionality built-in but for really friendly URLs I use OpenSEF. There are other SEF plugins but that's the one that works for me. You'll need *nix hosting and to be able to use your .htaccess. Once you're in the config settings you can do a ton of things with your URLs.

I found openSEF last night. I got everything installed and setup this morning. I'll look into the "tags" plugin. I know by default Joomla includes the meta keywords with a news post. I just loved the way drupal included them printed on the page. It made catagorizing so much easier. But I switched back, worst comes to worst I'll write my own plugin to do it.

It might be a good idea to use a test server (like JSAS) or test site to configure OpenSEF and have a play about first... and if you like it and use it don't forget to donate them a beer ;)

You'll have to give Phil Taylor a beer before using his plug-ins as they're commercial releases.

I wouldn't recommend using the meta keywords function in OpenSEF. It tends to spit out a lot of garbage. I realize you can filter out words and characters, but it's more time consuming than typing in keywords in each piece of content as I go. I do like the site description feature though.

Just remember to change: charset=iso-8859-1" /> to what ever language you are using.

I had some other components installed, and it didn't work that well with latin words as: Æ, Ø, Å, but after removing the components I've never had any problems.
