Guys, why do you create your own homepages for your plugins? Why isn't the official Plugin Directory suitable enough for them?

I just don't get it. There is everything you need - support forum, plugin ratings etc. And you also don't need to update two pages whenever you make an update.

It's every developer's choice to create homepages for their plugins :) It's one way of getting traffic if every person who installs your plugin checks your blog(plugin's URL). Plus, some of the bloggers giving more trust to the plugins who have own homepage URL.

There is always a link to the developer's website so If I don't include a link to my plugin's homepage they can visit my site if they want to anyway.

I doubt that because nobody can guarantee that a code on someones site is not malicious. Plugins in the Plugin Directory at least get reviewed before they go public so users know that using a plugin from the official repository is safe.
